Remember when we were talking about how amazing it is that Rahm can still clear the field with his low approval? With Rep Guitierrez dropping out of his re-election bid, Chuy Garcia plans to run for that seat.

Between 50 years of Daley's and Rahm, Chicago deserves what it gets.

Momentum seems to be building on a primary challenge against Lipinski. He's a bad blue dog Dem so I'd be happy to see someone actually progressive representing me.

He's my rep as well.

Gotta love gerrymandering.

Slim chance he is voted out as I think he is part of the Madigan machine.

lolsobbing

Starting in 2014, the webpage, corporate.comcast.com/openinternet/open-net-neutrality, contained this statement: "Comcast doesn't prioritize Internet traffic or create paid fast lanes."

That statement remained on the page until April 26 of this year, according to page captures from the Internet Archive's WayBack Machine.

But on April 27, the paid prioritization pledge was nowhere to be found on that page and remains absent now.

What changed? It was on April 26 that FCC Chairman Ajit Pai announced the first version of his plan to eliminate net neutrality rules. Since then, Pai has finalized his repeal plan, and the FCC will vote to drop the rules on December 14.

I wonder if Gage is going to pay up for a Soxtalk fastlane.

Roy Moore co-authored course saying women shouldn't run for office

Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore co-authored a 2011 study course in which a speaker contended women should not be allowed to run for public office and, if they did, people have a moral obligation not to vote for them, Think Progress reported.

The course, "Law and Government: An Introductory Study Course," was authored by Moore, Doug Phillips, Dr. Joseph C. Morecraft, and Dr. Paul Jehle and is currently available on Amazon.

The study includes a lecture from William O. Einwechter, a teacher elder at Immanuel Free Reformed Church. The lesson, titled "What the Bible Says About Female Magistrates," contends the Bible forbids women from holding elected office.

"She's not a warrior. She's not a judge. She's a woman. Created by God. Glorious in her place and in her conduct and in her role," Einwechter said. "Nothing is said in scripture that supports the notion that she is qualified or called to be a civil magistrate."

Einwechter ends the lecture with statement saying that Christians cannot vote for a woman, no matter their politics.

FOX NEWS HOST TO @tedcruz: You cool working with alleged child molester Roy Moore if he's elected?

CRUZ: Sure, no problem, that's up to the voters.

FOX NEWS HOST: And what about alleged groper Al Franken?

CRUZ: Now that's a very serious problem. I'm extremely concerned.

I hope this is a joke.

Sanders does a good job of exposing the GOP's plan to use the deficit they're creating to cut Social Security (which doesn't actually contribute to the deficit)

It is. Has Schumer even said anything? I'd be "okay" with saying that they will follow the recommendations of the ethics investigation.

Not since saying that there should be an ethics investigation, he was a "no comment" on allegation 5 or 6 or whatever it was that came through yesterday. He also hasn't said what he'd support as penalties after investigation.

Pretty disgusting that Cruz is now a child molester supporter.

The Democratic party not forcing out Franken though is a problem.

I love that quip about him saying he doesn't want to go against the will of the Alabama voters. Here's the kicker, what if Moore came out after he wins and said, yes the allegations are true and I'm deeply sorry... I bet the voters would come up with an excuse similar to the sick sycophant evangelicals did already.

Yep Franken should have been ousted to make a point but alas, Democrats just want to protect their boy.

Like I said in the other thread...I'm iffy here. If I spent 6 months finding people who were willing to lie about a Congressperson, and I got them to come forwards in sequence, do we just send away the congressperson with no time to evaluate their claims?

This is still America and there ought to be some level of due process available. I'm not sure how to make that work, but that's one of those things we do believe in as a country, a chance to have your case heard. A working ethics committee would be the right place to do that, but I'm not sure it works well enough or fast enough for that to actually count.

These people don't seem like they're lying and I have no reason to believe that in this case, but that's also the system we built in the Bill of Rights and I believe in the principles of that system too.

Please, has he even denied any of the claims?

He was there fighting that fight before it became politically expedient and popular.

He almost forced the lot of them to join the Medicare for All bandwagon. It’s hardly leadership for those who follow to parrot the same attacks from districts they would be hard-pressed to lose.

The big reason we’re in this mess in the first place is that Hillary had zero political conviction in any of her “tough call” positions and shifted with the winds...just like her husband. The difference is that his political instincts were second to none, with two rare exceptions (losing the governorship in 1980 and the 1994 Republican Revolution after leading with healthcare and gays in the military). In the end, she wasn’t likeable or trustworthy enough to deter enough from experimenting with a Trump presidency.

And look where we are now. In a position where, at best, the next two years will be spent undoing 2017 while the Chinese are running circles around us.
