On the same day Ryan helped to pass a $1.5T tax cut for the wealthy, he's also talking about needing to cut anti-poverty programs to get the national debt "under control"

That was the plan all along. Most everyone gets a little more money, the real people get A LOT more money, but now the deficit, the deficit, what will we do? Well, we could take away this extra money we gave most of you, even if it's not a lot, or we can just stop paying for people who have no money. Most people will stick with having more money, even if it isn't a life changing amount.

They aren't even trying to hide it. If there is a maker, I hope these thieves meet him or her. And I hope on Election Day regular people realize they have been conned.

Ways & Means Chair Kevin Brady, after today’s tax vote: “We’re going to have to, over time, make tough decisions to restrain spending”

Says Republicans should increase military spending, try to get back to “balanced budget”

11:02 AM - 20 Dec 2017

Love to balance the budget by giving trillions to the wealthy and defense contractors while gutting everything else

R candidate Yancey is now challenging, saying that a single vote thrown out yesterday for being an "overvote" should have been counted, which would put the race at a tie. They'd draw lots to determine the winner then.

aaannnd it's a tie

Sherrod Brown seems like a better choice than O’Malley...people are going to be fighting mad (if they aren’t already) when all the effects on tax reform, health care and the attack on SS and Medicare (seniors in general) all start to be felt. He’s going to be better posed to articulate the progressive argument.

Trump’s trying to hide as much as possible until at least 2018...but this con won’t hunt.

I think Warner / Schiff would be a good 2020 ticket

All depends on whether Trump is the candidate.

Both those guys have increased their visibility since the investigation started...but the political landscape changes so rapidly.

Right now, Gillibrand has the hot name because of the current wave of women/sexual harassment stories. And for turning on Bill Clinton, as well as the "pointed" twitter comments Trump personally made about Gillibrand, which only elevated her in the same way "she persisted" lifted Elizabeth Warren another rung or two.

I still think Harris will have momentum going into 2020. But really, we won't know until the dust settles in 2018

I think if she wants in she will mount an impressive campaign. I don't live in CA anymore so I don't know how she is on things like dealmaking or policy, but every time I've seen her on TV she just is a rockstar.

She also came out of the gate strong and unapologetically opposed to Trump and the GOP agenda while most Democrats including leadership still seem to be searching for a spine.

good timing:

What Is Kirsten Gillibrand Up To?

She has really pulled left on most issues. I will take it, but I worry that she is just doing it to get some hype and then be elected president and immediately start compromising on everything.

The best way to avoid compromising is to give the best senate/house you can. Though I do think Obama is fairly conservative, I honestly don't think much could have changed in ACA with that ahole Lieberman and Nelson pulling things in terrible directions.

Some very good news, Ryan J Reilly reporting on twitter that the J20 defendants all found not guilty on all counts.

For those unaware, a group of protestors were charged with felonys from inauguration day protests after graffiti and vandalism occurred, except the feds had no evidence that these people were responsible and admitted as such.

It was scary and crazy and luckily justice prevailed.

Would Gillibrand be connected to the Clintons in anyway by voters or Trump’s people?

this is her absolute biggest weakness. even the fact that she has the same look is a problem.

The only thing that gives her campaign a massive boost is CA being way earlier in the primaries. That could have a massive effect on her candidacy.

Unlike Clinton, Gillibrand has good and honest answers to her clinton connections and past stances and these charges don't stick to her like they did to Hillary, who would collect them like girl scout badges and show them off.

In 2028 or 32 Presidential news, my buddy Zach Wahls is running for Iowa State Senate. He went viral in his speech in 2011 about having two moms, he spoke before Obama at the 2012 Democratic National Convention, and he runs Scouts for Equality - the organization that changed the Boy Scouts' policy on LGBT members.

Get pumped.

Do birds fly south for the winter?

So it was a no s*** Sherlock question, but I do wonder if she’s going to be thrown into the Clinton category and get beat at the polls like Hillary did in 2016. Of course, we have to see if she’s the nominee out of the clown car of people the Democrats will have in 2020. I doubt Biden or Sanders will run so I bet it is Harris or Gillibrand.
