flavum
Nothing official, but not every guy deserves their own thread. Jason Bourgeois re-signed. The Sox signed lefty pitcher Cory Luebke, and catcher Carson Blair. Other non-rosters: C Geovany Soto UTL Cody Asche LP Matt Purke RP Blake Smith IF Everth Cabrera I'm sure other guys with major league experience will get added, plus guys like Burdi and Collins from the system. witesoxfan
Leubke is the only interesting name I see, and even he isn't super interesting. Was really good in limited innings for the Pirates AAA team last year. Maybe he turns into a decent lefty that the Sox can flip for a lottery ticket at the deadline. If I ever knew his name, I forgot it. He's a lefty. 59 in camp as of now. 32 pitchers (11 lefties) 6 catchers 11 infielders 10 outfielders (Asche and Leury listed as OF) http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/roster/40-man/ Edited January 23, 2017 by flavum

He was an overslot 19th rounder a few years back. Throws really hard

caulfield12
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 01:59 PM) Also have Avi and Davidson listed as DHs. They're looking at Asche for RF or DH? Isn't he more of a LF? Well, Melky will be gone and it likely won't matter 2-3 years from now anyway, other than positioning their 2018 draft picks. NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 01:35 PM) Those are surprises for me. Fry is a mild surprise coming back from TJS. Bummer is a guy who throws really hard left-handed, missed some time to a surgery and injuries, got an overslot bonus in the 19th round - so a mild surpise. The other guys I figured on. Delmonico has a legit shot at the team. Hayes was near a call-up last year before he got hurt. Clark is a legit prospect.

CWSpalehoseCWS
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 04:54 PM) Frazier,Anderson, Saladino, Sanchez, Lawrie, Everth Cabrera, Davidson, Asche, and Leury could all play 3B, SS, or 2B. Leury and his lifetime average of .188 has no business being on a major league ball club IMO. The guy is almost as painful to watch bat as Sanchez. I'd much rather let Peter takes his place who appears to provide the same positional flexibility and slightly more upside with the bat. Garcia can play average D at SS, 2B, and probably any OF position. He also has Plus speed. He;s not very good but you wanted reasons as to why Peter and Alvarez aren't there. They have other guys they want to see first. That's why.
