If you believe 4 guys should get in every year for the next 15-20 years, then Konerko has a shot.

If you believe only 2 or 3 should get in, then no.

You put in Konerko, then Andres Gallarraga, Carlos Delgado, John Olerud, Al Oliver, Dave Parker? And don't forget about McGriff, who should be in, but won't through the writers.

It's tough to get in.

Konerko is a Sox legend but he really isn't all that close to being a Hall of Famer. For his career he had a 118 wRC+. Respectable but not Hall of Fame when you have zero contribution with your glove or your legs. Even during his prime he was roughly 130 wRC+ bat on average. Again good but not great when compared to other first basemen. He did have a fairly long, fairly healthy career that allowed him to attain some pretty impressive counting stats, but again even the counting stats don't stand out among Hall of Famers.

If you're a believer in WAR, Konerko has just 23.2 fWAR for his career and only had 3 seasons above 3 fWAR. His fWAR is good for just 743rd all time.

I think the ballot congestion is starting to clear out a bit so by the time Konerko does get on the ballot people may be more apt to vote for him because of his reputation and because they haven't filled up their max 10 spots. I think he will probably stay on the ballot at least a couple years but I really can't see him even topping the 20% mark.

Sox legend, not a MLB legend.

Konerko had a much better career than Ron Santo. The problem is that Konerko will not have the PR that Santo did. The Cubs organization and Cubs tv+radio stations promoted Santo for the HOF for years. Konerko will never have that same type of thing going for him. The only thing that made me happy about Santo getting into the HOF is that he didn't live to see it.

No he didn't. Ron Santo was a 5 time gold glove 3B and a great hitter in an era where run suppression was much higher than in Konerko's time. Ron Santo was most definitely worthy of being in the Hall of Fame.

I'm a "big" Hall of Fame guy, but Konerko does not belong in the Hall of Fame, unless of course he is just visiting and pays the admission fee.

That's some pretty blind homerism there. Konerko didn't have anywhere near the career Santo did. Not only did Santo have a better bat (as compared to the era) but he provided positive value with his glove and didn't hurt you with his legs. Konerko only provided a bat and that bat was barely above average for his position. This glaring difference is show by their respective WARs. Konerko had just a 23.2 fWAR for his career with a 162 game average of 1.6 and just 3 seasons above 3 fWAR. Santo had a whopping 70.9 fWAR for his career with a 162 average of 5.1 and 8 seasons above 5 fWAR.

The only thing Konerko really has on Santo is the homers but when compared to the eras they played in he really doesn't have that either. Konerko finished top ten in HRs 6 times, Santo did it 7.

This. You can't really compare the counting stats from the two era's.

Even if four guys get in every year Konerko still wouldn't make it. He isn't anywhere close to a hall of famer.
