Steve9347
QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 04:33 PM) So, Dodd-Frank is on the chopping block now. The inmates are running the asylum - literally. “There is nobody better to tell me about Dodd-Frank than [JP Morgan C.E.O.] Jamie [Dimon]. So he has to tell me about it, but we expect to be cutting a lot from Dodd-Frank because, frankly, I have so many people, friends of mine, that have nice businesses, they can’t borrow money,” Trump said Friday morning, shortly before signing the executive orders. “They just can’t get any money because the banks just won’t let them borrow because of the rules and regulations in Dodd-Frank.” And here’s how Gary Cohn, Goldman Sachs president turned White House National Economic Council Director made the case for getting rid of the fiduciary rule unveiled last spring: “We think it is a bad rule. It is a bad rule for consumers. This is like putting only healthy food on the menu, because unhealthy food tastes good but you still shouldn’t eat it because you might die younger.” http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2017/02/tru...ends-need-money
caulfield12
"When a country is no longer able to say who can, and who cannot, come in & out, especially for reasons of safety &.security - big trouble!" he tweeted. A chaotic Friday night set up the nation for a second straight weekend of widespread uncertainty over the controversial ban, this time with the administration on defense. The White House first called the order "outrageous" and then dropped that word minutes later in a second statement. Cnn.com

The Beast
Nice to see a judge in Washington stand up to this bulls*** EO. Now the DHS is suspending the travel ban - maybe they are sending it to congress for a vote, or they are trying to "legal proof" it before announcing its new implementation? RockRaines
Anyone who lives in a town that was decimated by the mortgage crisis and the recession should be up in arms about what's going on with these regulations. But most likely they won't because, you know, the Bible is back.

Jerksticks
I wonder if this is bad news for businesses like Kabbage, OnDeck etc. They have been dominating radio ads like crazy lately. If banks are allowed to lend to small business again will this kind of destroy their niche?

caulfield12
Much of Robart's order appears modeled on litigation conservative states used to halt President Barack Obama's 2014 executive actions on immigration. The judge finds, much as a district court and appeals court did in that suit, that states have standing to challenge federal immigration actions that affect their coffers. "The States themselves are harmed by virtue of the damage that implementation of the Executive Order has inflicted on the operations and missions of their public universities and other institutions of higher learning, as well as injury to the States' operations, tax bases and public funds," Robart wrote. I was in school at that time and my parents said a lot of people were losing money then, even those who played fairly. My wife got laid off and my salary got rolled back thanks to that financial crisis. We bought our then house in 2007 for $269,500, and two years later it was valued at $220,000. Sold it a year and a half ago at $247,000. The above was all us being lucky, honestly. This idiot is going to ruin this country quickly.
