President Donald Trump: The Thread

Someone was casually talking about "disemboweling" Obama on one of the Yahoo article threads earlier today.

I will say the Secret Service must have their hands full with all the threats, real and imagined, to the Trump Family. Must be off the charts. The vitriol against GW Bush wasn't this bad even at the height of his unpopularity. The polarization is scary. It has gone from respectful disagreement to "the other side is pure evil."

Susan Rice lied about Obama admin spying on Trump campaign. Pretty big story somehow didn't get back here as far as I can see. Must have been because of Opening Day I'm sure. She (and HRC) pushed Obama to bomb Libya unconstitutionally, lied about Benghazi in a public effort to distort a tragedy and now she lied about this. Where is the accountability? I hope to see her before congress under oath.

Rabbit, please read the link below re: Rice and "unmasking."

McCain, asked if the Trump administration was giving Assad permission, said "Yes. Well, wouldn't you think so? Wouldn't you think so?"

There is precisely zero evidence that Rice used this information — assuming the reports are true — for anything other than her own official purposes or did anything unholy. Unmasking is not leaking, and as our own Karen DeYoung notes, Rice couldn't have names unmasked without permission from the relevant intelligence agency — a system in place to prevent political abuses.

And as President Barack Obama's national security adviser, there could very well have been legitimate reasons for her to ask to unmask individuals in these intelligence reports, which are part of her job. The Journal's claim that “Ms. Rice would have had no obvious need to unmask Trump campaign officials other than political curiosity” certainly takes some logical liberties, given we don't even know the subject of the reports.

Second — and importantly — there is also still no evidence that any surveillance was targeted at Trump, as he has alleged in tweets. This doesn't speak to that, either.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

President Obama, do not attack Syria. There is no upside and tremendous downside. Save your "powder" for another (and more important) day!

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

AGAIN, TO OUR VERY FOOLISH LEADER, DO NOT ATTACK SYRIA - IF YOU DO MANY VERY BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN & FROM THAT FIGHT THE U.S. GETS NOTHING!

Seriously though, the stupidity of the admin just blows my mind. It's not asking much to check your history to make sure you haven't said something that contradicts what you're about to say. You don't have to look back at every VHS tape from your interviews in 1983. But for f***'s sake, it's Twitter. It's a God damn search engine. It's not difficult or time consuming!

There is a relevant Trump tweet in direct opposition to everything that comes out of his mouth. Often true for Spicer as well. It's uncanny.

They also don't care because none of this ever mattered one bit on their road to the White House, and they're apparently eager to not only shout FAKE NEWS at anything they don't like, they also fully buy into it themselves.

edit: there's also this:

southpaw @nycsouthpaw

It's weird how we never mention the Obama admin asked the Republican congress for an authorization to strike Syria and didn't get it.

Im not even sure if its "stupidity." At this point they have gotten away with lying, so why change? Who is exactly calling them on it?

At this point it may even be "smart" for them to just continue to make up s***, deny the past, etc. Trump's entire life is built on unproven statements. He was elected President based on "promises" any rational person knew he could never keep. So hell just keep blaming "Obama" because to certain people "Obama" is the boogeyman under their bed.

Meanwhile Trump will do whatever he can to enrich himself and his friends, while none of his supporters even care.

They were trying to determine the extent of Russian interference in the election and Trump's team just kept coming up in legal surveillance of the foreign officials.

No, its all illegal. Dont you get how this works:

Obama, guilty until proven innocent.

Trump, innocent until proven guilty.

Havent you read the constitution?

Thanks for taking a break from your protests and your revolution to make this divisive, fruitless post.

So, by adding a post to this thread acknowledging these guidelines, you are stating the following...

1. I will not insult other posters, directly or indirectly

2. I will not threaten anyone, even in jest

3. I will not bait people or push them over the line (a.k.a. pushing their buttons)

4. I will not post statements for the purpose of angering others

5. I will not prod posters repeatedly on a subject or chase them across topics to make a point

6. I will try to make posts that actually add to the discussion at hand

The specific term "unmasking" is great and is being used by news outlets in totally different ways.

Youre welcome, back to the revolution!

Rock,

Eh dont worry about it, sticks and stones. Actually made me think about the only time I ever went to a protest. The year was 2000, it was a chilly spring day in Madison. A bunch of rabble-rousers were upset that Wisconsin was sponsored by Nike who was using child labor. I was on my way to a class and decided I could use the protest as a way to get out of class. I convinced the TA (it was some sort of global poli sci class) that we should all go to see it.

End of story was my entire class (except for me) got pepper sprayed when the protesters started to try and break into the chancellor's office. I had realized things were about to go bad, so I went to get my bag in case I had to run from the police.

Ill see you guys later, about to get into my gym bag and port back to the year 2000 and change history.

Seriously, and I do not mean most of his supporters here. There are enough supporters that will ignore that and just believe what he just wrote. We have short attention spans.

It really is majestic how well he is working to our least common denominator.

Syria, North Korea, etc are complex problems with really no perfect solution. We choose between the bad. It may be comforting to the masses hen a president makes it seem like he has the "one" solution, but it just does not reflect reality. Whatever Trump does will succeed and fail on certain levels.

I hope if he is reelected he blames his previous administration for any problems. That would be so awesome.
