1.) I don't have time to look up ALL the business deals he concocted through his life to get where he is. His intelligence of his chosen field (business, hotels, whatever you want to call it is impeccable).

I'm surprised you didn't attend Trump U. Think of what you could have learned. Handpicked educators by Trump even though he had never met them or knew who they were.

I would agree. I haven't worded it as well but I also have called him selfish and out for his own gain. Great post. "He will never be a servant of the people" IMO is 100 percent correct.

You are saying because he's rich he must be successful, he won the general election which means he must be smart, and in your opinion he won the debates. That is what makes him intelligent.

 

And before you start with your "you guys be me in a debate" crap, I'm asking you why those things equate to actual intelligence. Multiple people have given you information into how he made his money, you have yet to explain why winning an election and how most Americans not knowing the map of the world makes Donald Trump smart.

So first of all I don't know why I'm lumped in as a Trump lover. I've always said he's a creep, but I am hoping for the best cause he is MY president. Yes I claim him cause WE voted him in. If WE impeach him and get rid of him, I'll support that at that time. I believe in the process.

 

In answer to your question, I'm saying he knows the map of the world and he knows history which is a form of intelligence. I'm saying he showed very good debate skills and ability to think on his feet and that is a form of intelligence. As far as how he made his money, cmon, that's a totally liberal stance that he ONLY benefited from a golden goose before him. I hate 1 percenters using daddy's money more than anybody but I think he's a great businessman and that's a form of intelligence. Did I answer your questions?

Bankrupt or not (not sure why this is a total negative, if anything it proves he's intelligent enough to use the system to his advantage), he's got a net worth of billions. Complete morons would have taken those millions and pissed them away. He doesn't have to be intellectually smart to have some intelligence. He obviously can read people. He can connect with people. He can, at least in some business deals, hire the right people to make money for him.

 

Sorry, I hate the dude as much as you guys, but i'm not going to ignore reality and claim a guy that is worth billions has zero intelligence. That's just dumb.

 

Perhaps the argument here is intellect vs. skill. IMO he's got some skills, which require a base level of intelligence. Professional athletes may not be ivy-league smart, but they have exceptional skill and intelligence in a specific area that allows them to excel. I think Trump has some level of that or he would have washed out decades ago.

 

So, I think there's a difference between being smart, and having good ideas about policy or the ability to speak and act like an intelligent individual. Greg liked to bring up Ben Carson as a brain surgeon during the campaign. And it's true - Carson had to be intelligent to become a brain surgeon. But the ability to be a successful brain surgeon has nothing to do with developing policy or conducting oneself as the leader of the free world should.

 

And that's the problem here. Trump is very good at selling himself. He probably has some areas of competency. But self-promotion and real estate development don't make you smart in the areas you have to be smart to successfully lead the country. Add to that the fact that his speaking is extremely poor, and he is impulsive to a shocking degree, and you are left with a man who has absolutely no qualification to be president of the United States.

 

One last point here - Greg, Crimson had a point by point rebuttal to your questions. He even cited to an article showing how little of a grasp Trump has on basic American history. But you largely ignored that because, in your opinion, Trump defeated Clinton in the debates. Greg, why do you think Trump beat Clinton? What policies did Trump put forward at the debates that were, in your opinion, better than Clinton's? How did he convey his message better?

Alright, I agree that Trump is not smart. I agree that he was provided a huge head start. But taking a few million and some connections and making an empire worth, even conservatively, several BILLION, is still SOMETHING. I'm sure a lot of us got money from our parents for school or in cash and we're not multi-millionaires.

 

And despite his dumbness, he still managed to be an absolute nobody politically and beat out other republican candidates and Hillary in the election. There's SOME intelligence there. A complete moron does not attain the Presidency in 2017.

Pretty sure none of us got a few million. But more importantly, as I said, what he got that really propelled him was an empire pre-built. He was given all the connections he needed. He got there on what was given to him plus guile, ruthlessness and drive. Driven, he certainly is.

 

I used to tell people, no President is dumb. Even Bush, who maybe wasn't as smart as some of the others around him, was not an idiot. Trump, I am not sure I'd call him dumb either, but compared to Presidents I think he's bottom of scale on smarts. Compared to the whole country? Not dumb, probably average intelligence. Just super-warped as a person.
