Burn the entire GOP to the ground.

Ryan asked who the Russians “delivered” the opposition research to.

“There’s... there’s two people, I think, Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy said, drawing some laughter. “Swear to God,” McCarthy added.

“This is an off the record,” Ryan said.

Some lawmakers laughed at that.

“No leaks, alright?,” Ryan said, adding: “This is how we know we’re a real family here.”

“That’s how you know that we’re tight,” Scalise said.

“What’s said in the family stays in the family,” Ryan added.

My wife and I have planned for the last 5-6 years on that 10 year forgiveness program. We purposefully pay as little as possible towards my wife's undergrad and grad loans knowing that it will benefit us when the 10 year mark hits in another year and a half. I'm going to be pretty pissed if they cut the program entirely and apply it all the way back to when it started.

My wife has as well. We're coming up on completing Year 3 under that program. We would be furious.

Does that mean SoxTalk now has a higher standard than POTUS and Congress?

Because potentially banned posters could similarly using the "I was just joking/being sarcastic" defense.

Would love to have some of whatever this writer is smoking or drinking...

Even if criminality on the president's part were to be proven and even if a large majority of legislators could be prompted to move against Trump, removing a president this early in his term does not look like a last resort. It looks spiteful. It looks opportunistic. It looks anti-democratic.

Many voters did not give Trump their support at the ballot, but the impeachment of a newly elected head of state this early in his term gives new life to the absurd idea of a 'deep state' conspiracy aimed at undermining Trump in defence of special interests and entrenched power.

For all these reasons, Trump will not be impeached. Not now – not ever. With that in mind, it seems that he is almost guaranteed to remain in office for a full term, continuing as president until 2020. And even then, even after what will be difficult, bruising years ahead, he is more than likely, as the incumbent, to win another term in office, and to stay on for four more years.

Was just riding on the subway and many of the stories in the Chinese media about Trump have this picture (accompanying abuse of power/obstruction of justice/impeachment headlines) of Bill Clinton and Monica in 1997 (her b-day).

Wow...it's amazing how much he has aged since the "happier" times of that photo.

Knifes are out.

Mueller had to be high up on worst case scenario appointments. Wonder if Rod Rosenstein will make it through the week.

Dude it's Knives.

I can respect this. If they did not break the law then I will have some confidence in him making statements that they didn't break the law. If they did what they did, then this will have confidence of enough congressional Republicans to be potentially helpful to the country.

Per TPM Rosenstein announced this like 10 minutes before the evening news so that the administration would have no time to respond. That's a guy trying to salvage a reputation he realizes he threw in the trash last week.

Would Trump dare fire Rosenstein...?

That's the first thought that came to mind.

It's also going to be interesting to see what Trump does from abroad via Twitter and press conferences, especially if Comey testifies to Congress next week. The Donald probably won't sleep at all, absorbing the FOX NEWS coverage from abroad (hope he only has access to BBC or CNN, lol) due to the time zone difference and not wanting to miss any of the latest developments in DC.

Trump, who fired Comey last week, was in the middle of interviewing candidates to replace him as FBI director when he was informed, according to a person close to the White House. White House officials were blindsided by the move, an administration official said. A large group of staffers went to the Oval Office to inform Trump, according to a person in the room, who said Trump took the news better than expected and signed off on the statement his aides crafted.

It's official, if this news is true (Trump accepting the news w/o destroying the West Wing), then Lonzo Ball's dad just passed Trump for most outlandish person in America. Asking for Trump's net worth for a shoe contract (oops, branding deal) that's going to struggle to sell 1,000 pairs.

Fox News' plan to ignore the Comey stuff and exist in an alternate reality blew up in their faces in the ratings

If Trump fires Rosenstein, he might as well fly to Mar A Lago and stay there, there isn't a point in coming back

Oh dear lord the fallout would be insanity

So to recap today:

- Sheriff David Clarke, under federal investigation for deaths in his prison that include a baby's death, has been appointed Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

- Turkish officials, working for a dictator, assaulted American citizens in the nation's capitol.

- The former FBI director has agreed to publicly testify regarding the President possibly obstructing justice in regards to his campaign possibly colluding with our Cold War adversary to undermine an election, which the President won with nearly negative three million votes.

- The Department of Education is going to siphon hundreds of millions from public education into school choice programs.

- WashPo has a tape of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy ® saying that Trump is paid by Putin in a GOP meeting. Ryan says to keep it hush hush on the tape. McCarthy's camp denies it happened, then WashPo dropped the tape on them.

- Flynn told the Trump transition team he was under investigation, so a whole mess of them (including Pence) could now be on the chopping block

-Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel for the investigation

I am expecting a Saturday Night Massacre at some point still.

On the plus side, you might be able to buy Manafort's new house in Florida for a song.

He's going to need the capital to finance all those legal bills. Ask the likes of George Stephanopolous and Dee Dee Myers.

I keep imagining which America would suck even more than the current one...under Pence or Paul Ryan? I'm feeling that I would actually prefer Pence, for some reason. But it's scary to have to choose between the two.
