It's still a worrying trend, and we know President "legally too dumb to commit a crime, apparently" gets more information from cable news than from his classified briefings. He's likely to try to fire Mueller via tweet based on his uncontrollable impulses, and everyone steeped in the right wing media world will completely legitimize it.

But he's like really smart. He went to Wharton. He knows more than anyone.

You are right, that is a big conflation I shouldn't have done. It so far has just been Gingrich and other former politicians.

And Fox. Which, we all know, Trump parrots pretty much every day

TRUMP TRIED TO CONVINCE NSA CHIEF TO ABSOLVE HIM OF ANY RUSSIAN COLLUSION: REPORT

A recent National Security Agency memo documents a phone call in which U.S. President Donald Trump pressures agency chief Admiral Mike Rogers to state publicly that there is no evidence of collusion between his campaign and Russia, say reports.

The memo was written by Rick Ledgett, the former deputy director of the NSA, sources familiar with the memo told The Wall Street Journal. Ledgett stepped down from his job this spring.

The memo said Trump questioned the American intelligence community findings that Russia interfered in the 2016 election. American intelligence agencies issued a report early this year that found Russian intelligence agencies hacked the country’s political parties and worked to sway the election to Trump.

China overturns rejections of 9 Trump trademarks

"The speed with which these appeals were decided is mind-blowing," said Matthew Dresden, an intellectual property attorney at Harris Bricken in Seattle. "I have never seen any decisions made that quickly. That suggests special treatment. But that's just procedural. Substantively, it's impossible to say whether any of this is unusual."

China's Trademark Office did not respond to requests for comment Wednesday.

The new provisional approvals further shore up the president's brand in China, conferring potential rights to the use of Chinese versions of his name for beauty salon services, socks, human resources consulting and advertising, among other things, and the Trump brand, in English, for jewelry and watch repair. If there are no objections, the marks will be formally registered after 90 days.

GOP Rep. Sanford on Va. shooting: Trump partially responsible ‘for the demons that have been unleashed’

But while Trump might think issues facing the White House have been created by a mysterious "they," Americans don't seem to trust the president's commitment to running the government properly—in fact, many think he is downright undemocratic. Sixty-five percent of respondents in an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll released Thursday said the president either doesn't have much or any respect for the "country's democratic institutions and traditions." Nearly a third of Republicans or Republican-leaning independents said the same.

The Associated Press-NORC survey also found Trump wasn't a particularly popular president. Just 35 percent of Americans approved of the job he's doing as president, the poll found. Sixty-four percent—and one-quarter of Republicans—disapproved of Trump's job performance. In March, the the Associated Press-NORC poll found 42 percent of Americans approved of the job Trump was doing. Just one-in-five Republicans disapproved of the president in March.

In the latest poll, roughly 50 percent of whites without a college degree—one of Trump's strongest demographics in the 2016 presidential election—approved of the job the president was doing. That's down 8 percentage points from Associated Press-NORC poll in March.

ahahaha what is this even supposed to mean?

Rosenstein "recommended" he fire Comey, Rosenstein hired Mueller

DT translation = Rosenstein is investigating me

Methinks he has been trying to get Rosenstein to fire Mueller and he will not

I guess Trump doesn't remember the time he went on national TV and proclaimed that he was going to fire Comey regardless of the recommendations. I know that was 8 years ago at the pace everything moves these days and Trump's brain is mush, but I'm guessing a lot of people remember him saying that.

e: it is absolutely perfect that his world-class insecurity and narcissism made him break all sorts of rules and norms to get people to publicly declare that he wasn't under investigation which lead to....Trump himself publicly declaring that he is now in fact under criminal investigation.

Trump thinks Rosenstein is leading the investigation because he was the one who hired Mueller?

Christ, our President is an idiot.

No no no, he just doesn't -understand- the rules and decorum of his position and he is still learning. Where is Brett to tell us about these great things?

So now firing Comey wasn't his idea.

He's digging his own grave.

Keep on tweeting. It's amazing how smart he thinks he is vs. what he really is. It's as if he thinks the freaks that are his base can actually save him.

Or is he saying that Mueller, while interviewing for the Director's position..or perhaps discussing informally before Comey was fired as Mueller was formerly director...advised Trump to fire Comey?

Nothing makes any sense.

I thought Trump basically admitted the Rosenstein memo had nothing to do with it in the Lester Holy interview?

Trump's ego wouldn't let him say his firing someone wasn't his idea. Now it might bite him in the ass. Good for us all.

On a good note, imnsho "dreamers" will not be deported. Trump will not be pushing for immediate deportation which was a campaign promise.

They've already been deporting DACA and DAPA immigrants, though. ICE and CBP are rounding up anyone and everyone they can, even out of medical aid facilities, and the regular stories about their activities are disgusting and heartbreaking. Local police are dismayed and angered because these draconian actions are destroying trust and relationships with immigrant communities that take years or decades to build.

There are apparently a lot of bad people within ICE and CBP and they've been given free reign by this admin.

Officially by policy that has ended. What happens in the streets and courts has always been different.

Yeah, I guess we'll see. Hopefully you're right and ICE/CBP stop their rapid acceleration towards some pretty dark tactics and goals.

Oops, Holt.

At some point, when it becomes apparent that the GOP Congress isn't going to have the votes to pass AHCA, they're going to have to start distancing themselves from Trump...or basically pretending he doesn't exist (yes, extremely hard to pull off).

If they don't get the AHCA these 2-3 weeks, they'll get hammered again in town halls (although most will be cancelled due to "threats of left wing terrorists") during an upcoming one week recess and lose any momentum that might still be out there. Off the entire month of August...so infrastructure, tax reform, looming budget shutdown, etc., all still yet to be addressed.
