“How about the irony of, ‘Free speech is fine if you’re a neo-Nazi chanting hate slogans, but free speech is not allowed to kneel in protest?'” Kerr added. “No matter how many times a football player says, ‘I honor our military, but I’m protesting police brutality and racial inequality,’ it doesn’t matter. Nationalists are saying, ‘You’re disrespecting our flag.’ Well, you know what else is disrespectful to our flag? Racism. And one’s way worse than the other.”

Carrying a confederate flag is much more disrespectful to our flag than anything done in protest.

Uh oh. Chiefs Justin Houston took a knee to pray today not protest. Made it public with statements about the power of prayer. Uh oh. Many Americans aren't gonna like hearing about praying.

Most probably don't give a s***, unless someone tells him he can't or if he's preaching like Tebow.

Trump is making a huge mistake taking on the NFL and its players. These are some very influential people, especially to younger Americans, who will (hopefully) be voting in 2018 and 2020. If the players stick to what they believe and start communicating that the American people need to speak up and do something about it, things will look pretty grim for the Republican party and Trump.

The one thing I can't get past is how Trump and many of his supporters believe that the neo Nazis and white suprematists are better than these football players who are peacefully protesting by kneeling or not participating in the national anthem. I see posts by some of my Facebook friends, and I'm appalled. It's hard for me to believe that people I know actually feel that way.

It's very sad and disturbing what is going on in this country.

For many, its a black and white issue. I don't think it was just coincidence Trump popped this one off in Alabama. Puerto Rico is disaster area, Health care, tax reform, and Trump wastes his time on this...Trying to divide the country is disrespecting the flag. Fire that son of a b****.

Could not agree more. People are b****ing that the NFL players should be standing, agreeing with Trump when he calls them sons of b****es. Maybe they should be a little more concerned about Trump trying to lead us to war with North Korea, Trump trying to take health care away from millions, Trump ignoring the fact that a US territory has been devastated...

Is Trump going to address the 3.5 million people in Puerto Rico that are without power and clean water or is he just going to give more racist speeches down in Alabama?

Since they are unable to participate in the Presidential election, they will be ignored by this idiot.

Exactly. He’s distracting everyone from the fact he gives no s***s about this.

Disagree all you want. They may be showing more solidarity in reaction to the awful, pathetic tweets from Trump but the purpose of the protest is still the same. Racial inequality.

According to facebook, they're protesting the military and veterans.

Trump is genius. Misdirection is his forte. He's trying to get people distracted so he can try to pass his disastrous policies.

People just need to keep their eyes on the prize, Trump's rhetoric is nothing new and should be treated as white noise.

He is what he is.

I think less Trump is a genius and more "this is what Fox and Friends is talking about."

If this is really about the military and vets, then Trump should be hard at work fixing the ultimate disrespect of our veterans in the VA. We still have vets dying for lack of decent medical care in 2017 because President after President utterly ignores their health care. Try to fix this and we can talk about a President respecting our troops.

It's not but I see memes and videos posted about how they are disrespecting the military and veterans. The people posting them have no clue what it's about obviously.

No chance he's that clever. He's in Alabama at a rally and just said something because he knew it would draw an applause. I bet he didn't think for a second about how the rest of the country would respond.

That's the problem with this entire protest. Kap was kneeling before anyone was paying attention. Once people started to talk about it, the discussion was never about racial inequality, it was all about the flag, the anthem and how professional athletes act. Still is. All day yesterday the "why" was Trump, not the original issue.

Anyone in St. Louis familiar with the Trump nomination for US Attorney, Jeff Jensen? I grew up with him and he was a really good guy. He comes from a great family. He went to Indiana, graduated with an Accounting degree, tried that for a year or so, didn't like it, became an FBI agent. Did that for about a decade, went to law school at night, and became a prosecutor for a bit before opening his own firm. He father is a retired FBI agent who is a big advocate for the homeless and mentally ill in the Northwest suburbs. I haven't been in contact with him for many years, and don't know Jeff's politics, but I would imagine it is based at least a bit toward the right since he's a Trump nominee. I just wonder if the people in St. Louis know more.

My favorite is the people who think he started this year because of Trump, ummm what team would that have been?
