Balta1701
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 03:23 AM) I honestly think that Trump in the long run will do more damage to the GOP than anyone can imagine right now. His behavior is just not sustainable. At some point the vast majority will reject Trumpism, it is already opposed by the majority of Americans. Either that or this country is truly dumber than we think and it's on full on decline. To the first - yeah, but the minority has made it so difficult for the rest to vote that it doesn't matter. To the latter, remember, if the whole country declines, the "Blah" peoples decline to. We've decided as a nation we're ok with that.
Balta1701
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 24, 2017 -> 05:58 PM) I probably should have clarified I meant current republican politicians. I think most of them have the same thoughts these 3 have, but are afraid of what they may lose if they say. There are obviously a few screwballs that bow to his every word, but the juvenile way he works can't go on. At some point more will break. They have to. It isn't like he is suddenly going to behave like an adult. And if they get their tax cuts, Trump will take full credit like he is the stock market. Yeah, but the Republicans have bigger priorities. After his brave speech yesterday about how we can't let this possibly go on any more, Jeff Flake Bravely stood up and said "if a bank steals $20 from a million customers, we should be ok with that. That's the kind of thing that makes America work, small time fraud on huge scales." Brave.
StrangeSox
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 07:41 AM) This was literally written in 2016. Didn’t we all already know this? Is this to smokescreen the fact that Trump outsourced his research to Russia? We knew that the dossier started its life with the Jeb and Cruz campaigns and after the primaries was then funded by "Democrat-associated people" but the DNC and Clinton camp denied direct involvement IIRC. Either way though, there's nothing unusual about conducting opposition research. The work appears to have been legit, and Mueller and Co. will investigate and substantiate what claims, if any, are true. And yeah it's still a couple of steps removed from receiving emails saying "would you like to collude with the Russian government's efforts to help you win" "yes!!!!" https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/nation...bbb9_story.html Officials have said that the FBI has confirmed some of the information in the dossier. Other details, including the most sensational accusations, have not been verified and may never be. Fusion GPS’s work researching Trump began during the Republican presidential primaries, when the GOP donor paid for the firm to investigate the real estate magnate’s background. Fusion GPS did not start off looking at Trump’s Russia ties but quickly realized that those relationships were extensive, according to the people familiar with the matter. When the Republican donor stopped paying for the research, Elias, acting on behalf of the Clinton campaign and the DNC, agreed to pay for the work to continue. The Democrats paid for research, including by Fusion GPS, because of concerns that little was known about Trump and his business interests, according to the people familiar with the matter. Those people said that it is standard practice for political campaigns to use law firms to hire outside researchers to ensure their work is protected by attorney-client and work-product privileges. StrangeSox
Inside Trump’s meeting with Senate GOP But other senators were less amused by the meeting, which they complained lacked substance and focus. “He said the tax cuts are ‘going to be great,’ ” without going into any detail, said one GOP senator who requested anonymity to assess the meeting candidly. “He just went on and on, talking about his accomplishments and going off on tangents. It was inane,” the lawmaker added.

Almost as if someone is scared of more of its contents being verified and trying to distract, but without damaging anyone on that side.
caulfield12
http://www.cnn.com/2017/10/24/politics/tru...nley/index.html More pettiness, this time trying to reverse Obama renaming of Mt. McKinley to Denali despite opposition “Lisa -- Sen. Murkowski -- and I jumped over the desk," (GOP Senator Dan) Sullivan said. "We said no, no!" Trump, perplexed that the two Republicans wanted to keep an Obama-era decision, asked why. "The Alaska Native people named that mountain over 10,000 years ago," Sullivan said. "Denali, that was the name." Sullivan's office confirmed the conversation to CNN. The White House declined to comment. Btw, Cassidy and Graham crossed lines to vote for the rights of consumer protection, fwiw. Edited October 25, 2017 by caulfield12

StrangeSox
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 24, 2017 -> 08:55 AM) Whitefish, one of America’s smallest electric companies, landed Puerto Rico’s biggest contract to get power back on. This two-person company just got a $300M contract to restore power in Puerto Rico. They just happen to know Sec. of Interior Zinke pretty well and are from his hometown. They're charging $300+ per hour for linemen where other utilities were offering them in mutual aid. StrangeSox
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 04:44 PM) I didn't want to post that because it wasn't a verified account, are we 100% sure that's from the company? The account's been posting relevant stuff going back weeks (before anyone knew who they were) and was created last year. I wouldn't expect a 2-person operation to get a twitter blue check. If they're a fake, they've been spoofing the company by making posts about the local power market in Montana going back to last December.

greg775
Trump is so cocky and full of himself it's incredible. He was talking on some show today about standing ovations he got at some rally and on and on about how people love him. Hard to believe such a rich creep fooled America to vote him in. Seems enough voters just liked his non P.C. style in a debate format and speech format and they overlooked how rich and unlikeable he is. Good thing we have a system of checks and balances or he really might do something destructive. He is one annoying rich guy that is for sure.
