Bob Sacamano
Trading Q soon would have to put us bottom 3 and in 5th place, right? RIGHT?
Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (Sockin @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 11:04 AM) http://www.baseballprospectus.com/fantasy/dc/ They are f***ing high. This team isn't winning 77 games.
flavum
I don't like seeing them have the Astros winning the division by 6 games. They need Quintana...now.
bmags
I'm not surprised. All of the forecasts seem to put a lot of weight on depth. It probably projects pretty good numbers for our pitchers/Moncada. But, I'm convinced our offense will be awful so I doubt it.
SoxAce
Even if Moncada, Giolito, Lopez, Fulmer, etc. come in later in the year and are excellent, it's still hard to see that happening even with the most optimistic fan.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) They are f***ing high. This team isn't winning 77 games. Minus Chris Sale and Adam Eaton, they are predicting the same results as last year? Yeah.
flavum
If the Sox maxed out with a good bullpen, no more trades, and near perfect health, they could get there. Obviously none of that is going to happen. 68-
Soha
I think 10th is a little generous. But at this point, I don't think we're bottom 5 yet. They need to move Quintana and they need to move a bat or two. Unless they aren't gunning for the 2018 draft, which would be disappointing. ChiSoxFanMike
The Chicago White Sox will be a 64 win team once Jose Guillermo Quintana is traded.
reiks12
Does this take into account that Moncada, Lopez, and Giolito won't be in the bigs to start the year?
Bob Sacamano
USA Today has the Sox at 68-94. Don't know if that is based on numbers and data projections or not but it seems about right.
spiderman
As long as the rotation contains Quintana, and an improve Rodon, the White Sox are going to have to a pretty solid front-end of the rotation, and they are likely to add young talent in the majors as the season progresses. Offensively, this team is going to challenged; there just isn't much talent on this roster. This is probably a bottom 10 team currently, and may become bottom 5 if they move Quintana for minor league talent.
ptatc
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 11:27 AM) Minus Chris Sale and Adam Eaton, they are predicting the same results as last year? Yeah. I don't know. They are probably figuring, Abreu and Frazier won't be as bad and Anderson will improve. The offense will be around 20th. They still have a decent bullpen and a good 3 starters. Along with the fact that some of the players acquired will be up at some point. They aren't going to be good but as currently constructed, they aren't going to be at the bottom. chitownsportsfan
Not often you see a projection that fans think is too optimistic and the fanbase saying "dammit, we need to be worse!"

Lol. Its the position the front office has put us in though.

Jose Abreu
Once Q/Robertson/one of Melky or Frazier are gone, we'll finish 64-98.

I think with the current bullpen and 3 decent starters and an offense around 20, they could finish in the bottom middle third of the league without that many standard deviation improvements from every player. i doubt they will be in the bottom 5. ptatc
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2017 -> 04:26 PM) This offense ranked 21st in OPS with Adam Eaton last year. I just don't see it. I was looking at runs scored where they were 20th. So they will be probably just short of that because they should be slightly better or even nearly everywhere else.
