Sears is saying that the Sox are close to a deal with recently DFA'd Byung Ho Park even though he has to clear waivers first. Lets see if he gets lucky again.

What is really funny about this is if you search White Sox and Park on twitter, this is the tweet that comes immediately before Sears.

Considering he is still a member of the Twins organization, working something out before he clears waivers and is released, is clearly tampering. And if he cleared waivers the Twins would outright him, or release him and owe him all the money. There is nothing to "work out".

The guy apparently takes others tweets as his own inside scoop.

So I looked up his tweet, and just out of fairness, this is what his actual tweet was...

I'm hearing from a source that the #WhiteSox are working on a deal with recently DFA'd Byung Ho Park

He didn't say "close".

How can they be "working on a deal with" him?

It makes no sense. They can either claim him or wait until he is released, if he would even be released to speak with him. If Minnesota has to pay him, I see no reason why they wouldn't keep him around.

Can the Sox claim him and work out a deal with the Twins to pay Park a portion of the $9 million or whatever the Twins owe him?

He was DFAed, so the Twins are on the hook for his contract even if he clears waivers. Maybe the Sox claimed him and are trying to figure out the financials.

If they claim him, they get the contract.

Maybe they will, but it doesn't really make sense for the Twins to release him if they have to pay him. They can put him in the minor leagues and see what happens.

Also, he revealed to me who his source works for, and all I will say is that his source is not affiliated with the Sox, so his source really isn't even an inside guy anyway.

It's Charles the Cat isn't it?

Maybe the tweet meant to say "Sox trying work out a deal with the Twins for Park." Like a Park for cash considerations or PTBNL" type of deal. Teams do that when a player is in DFA status and can reject an assignment to the minors knowing that another team can claim or sign him (after he's released).
