Daryl Van Schouwen‏Verified account @CST_soxvan 1h1 hour ago No #WhiteSox prospect has been more impressive this spring than Reynaldo Lopez, now taking his warmup tosses before facing KC.

I really think Lopez will be the first starter called up from AAA. Does anyone know the date he can be called up that assures an extra year of control?

Of the 22 HR's the Sox have hit this spring only 6 have come from players who were on the Sox at the beginning of last season. Saladino 3, Avi 2, Abreu 1, Anderson has 1 as does Yolmer Sanchez so 8 total from players who spent significant time on the Sox last year. Not counting Davidson or Kevan Smith who each have 1 but were injured upon debuting and had very limited AB's.

The other 12 HR's are from Cody Ache 3, Rymer Liriano 2, Yoan Moncada 2, Eddy Avarez ( inside the park ) , Bourgeois , Everth Cabrera , Nick Delmonico, Danny Hayes

Anyone think the Sox could be interested in Joba Chamberlain as a reclamation project? He was released today.

Wouldn't be a bad idea really. If he turn him around maybe you can add him to a trade in July. If he doesn't turn it around and helps lose games that's fine too.

So James Shields throws 6 shutout innings and now has a 2.53 ERA 1.031Ratio and 10 Ks in 10.7 innings.

Its a long shot but if Shields somehow ends up with an ERA hovering at under 4.00 towards the trade deadline then we can actually get something for him.

It's almost a perfect win-win...

1.) He does well and we can trade him

2.) He sucks balls and we get better draft position

The only potential downside is him being middle of the road - and honestly, I think that's the most likely scenario.

Doh.

We all can only hope that happens

If Shields is decent in the first half he will be flipped

Renteria said today that taking 13 pitchers is a possibility but 12 still seems to be the number where he's leaning.

take 13 pitchers and put Leury as the backup SS. That's a good way to max losses.
