I like Rosenthal rumors. Houston and Pitt match up well for trade partners so who knows.

Pirates fans are probably happy they kept their prospects (granted Meadows hasn't been good this year). Definitely need more than Q to be good. No Kang for likely a full year and no Marte for half a season hurts. And Freese always seems to go on the dl consistently.

Would love to see Cooper fix Matt Harvey after we dump Hollland/MiGo/Shields.

Probably won't happen. But at least it would be entertaining.

No thanks, not really interested in a guy who already had Thoracic Outlet surgery

The Pirates have had it rough so far and I doubt it gets better for them. Huntington seems to have played his cards right by not going crazy to get Q last winter. Was hoping Pitt could compete until the deadline to keep them in the mix for Q and Cole off the trade market but that's not looking good. Worse yet, I can totally see the Yanks getting after Cole. The Pirates farm could get a nice boost this summer.

Pirates might be closer to selling than buying at this point. Glasnow has been a disaster so far, and Meadows does not appear close to mlb ready with the bat just yet.

Astros fans on reddit saying their top 5 prospects are clearly off the table if they go after Cole.

I can't think of a dumber fanbase

I think all fan bases are relatively the same when it comes to things like this. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=19297

Fans always overvalue their own prospects and assume they will all reach their lofty projections when most do not. If a prospect ends up as a solid mlb regular that is a huge win in most cases.

Houston has a very good farm system, with talent at the top as well as depth at the bottom. They absolutely have the prospects to go out and swing multiple trades if decide they need to add talent.

Do you guys think we lost the window to trade Q in the near term? Performance down (albeit a small sample size), other possible contenders dropping out creating supply of other SP's to deal (Cueto, etc).

No... Q is a long term solution. He has a few cheap years left on his contract. Most of the other pitchers available are rental players that are a short term solution.

Meaning they will cost significantly less.

Yes but I would say teams looking to compete for a long time rather than just this year will be more likely to give up more for long term solution rather than paying a FA more in the offseason.

Yes, probably. Maybe the Yankees bite in July, but I don't see a match for an in-season trade anymore.

I'm just assuming Quintana never gets traded.

Guys, It is going to be incredibly hard for Q to get his ERA below 4 this season, even if he's typical Q for most of the rest of the year. When you go through your first 4 starts with an ERA approaching 7 it is not easy to recover this season. We might be holding on to him until trade deadline 2018. Just be prepared at this point for him to start 2018 on the Sox.

Bump

If you don't have high K numbers, they don't consider you an ace (unless your name is Tanaka or Keuchel).

We here all know his value as a TOR arm, and so does the Sox FO. Piss on what some dopey scouts say. He's #1 on most teams.

I'm triggered.

Since 2012 he's 11th in fWAR among all MLB pitchers.

Since 2013 he's 7th in fWAR among all MLB pitchers.

Since 2014 he's 8th in fWAR among all MLB pitchers.

Since 2015 he's 9th in fWAR among all MLB pitchers.

Since 2016 he's 9th in fWAR among all MLB pitchers.

In 2017 he's tied for 20th in fWAR among qualified pitchers.

That's pretty damn good for a "#3"

In his last 6 starts he's put together this line: 40 IP, 39 K, 8.78 K/9, 29 H, 15 BB, 3.38 BB/9, 2.70 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 2-2 record.
