Do any of you partake in Lent? If so a.) did you get ashes and if so, what church? b.) What will u give up for Lent.

My answer: Yes I got ashes at St. John in Lawrence, Ks. b.) I cannot reveal but it has to do with not cussing and not criticizing people behind their backs.

No and nothing. I stopped believing in imaginary friends when I was a kid. Religion is the worst creation in the history of the world.

While you are welcome to that belief, this is not OK as a response to someone talking about something they obviously have personal interest in. Let's play nice in this thread, OK?

I'm not the least bit religious but usually give up something. I gave up Diet Coke this year.

That said, since I'm dealing with surgery recovery and kicked booze 101 days ago, I'm going to go ahead and jump back on the soda train. f*** that.

Congrats, man. I want to do the same. Just tough because of my friends and wanting the "end of a long work day" drink.

I am legit addicted to Diet Coke. It's not good.

This is such a problem. I don't have a problem giving up the long drunken Friday/Saturday nights I have a problem giving up the random 2-3 IPAs I have after a long work day with a friend/girlfriend.

This has always been my weakness.

Yeah I've cut back significantly on the drunken Friday and Saturday nights. They happen on very rare occasions now. The beer and the gin and ginger ales help take the edge off after a long work day.

I've never been so disappointed in someone in my life.

I had surgery 5 years ago where I couldn't drink soda for 6 months. I got used to not having it.

Then one day I thought I'd have a Pepsi and I was back off the wagon. I drink maybe one can a day but try and stick to water.

Ha, I'm the exact opposite. I rarely drink during the work week, but come Friday and Saturday, it's time to go hard. This is likely because I'm single.

Oh, and I didn't give up anything for Lent. But I do adhere to not eating meat on Fridays.

My daughter became a vegan a year ago, so this year I'm giving up meat. I'll basically be a vegan, but I'm allowing myself milk for cereal (I'll try the almond milk, but not sure I'll like it). I'm also not going to check labels for eggs in things like bread.

I won't be eating sweets, either.

So far, it hasn't been difficult.

I didn't get ashes. I usually do, but I had a conflict with the mass time.

I'm not super religious, either. I go to church, but I'm pretty much agnostic.

Non-sweetened vanilla almond milk is the way to go. We have not bought cow milk in my home for probably 5 years. Well, except for white russians.
