lasttriptotulsa
No and nothing. I stopped believing in imaginary friends when I was a kid. Religion is the worst creation in the history of the world.
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 11:33 AM) No and nothing. I stopped believing in imaginary friends when I was a kid. Religion is the worst creation in the history of the world. While you are welcome to that belief, this is not OK as a response to someone talking about something they obviously have personal interest in. Let's play nice in this thread, OK? Steve9347
I'm not the least bit religious but usually give up something. I gave up Diet Coke this year. That said, since I'm dealing with surgery recovery and kicked booze 101 days ago, I'm going to go ahead and jump back on the soda train. f*** that. I want to do the same. Just tough because of my friends and wanting the "end of a long work day" drink. southsider2k5
QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 01:15 PM) This is such a problem. I don't have a problem giving up the long drunken Friday/Saturday nights I have a problem giving up the random 2-3 IPAs I have after a long work day with a friend/girlfriend. This has always been my weakness.

Yeah I've cut back significantly on the drunken Friday and Saturday nights. They happen on very rare occasions now. The beer and the gin and ginger ales help take the edge off after a long work day. Brian
I had surgery 5 years ago where I couldn't drink soda for 6 months. I got used to not having it. Then one day I thought I'd have a Pepsi and I was back off the wagon. I drink maybe one can a day but try and stick to water.

BlackSox13
Though I'm not Catholic or religious, I still chose to give something up anyway. So long sobriety.

Ha, I'm the exact opposite. I rarely drink during the work week, but come Friday and Saturday, it's time to go hard. This is likely because I'm single. Oh, and I didn't give up anything for Lent. But I do adhere to not eating meat on Fridays. Edited March 4, 2017 by dasox24
Middle Buffalo
My daughter became a vegan a year ago, so this year I'm giving up meat. I'll basically be a vegan, but I'm allowing myself milk for cereal (I'll try the almond milk, but not sure I'll like it). I'm also not going to check labels for eggs in things like bread. I won't be eating sweets, either. So far, it hasn't been difficult. I didn't get ashes. I usually do, but I had a conflict with the mass time. I'm not super religious, either. I go to church, but I'm pretty much agnostic.
