I do not think that is a fight Bryce Harper was going to win.

Samardzija got knocked down by his own guy right before he was going to tackle Harper. I would have liked to see that collision.

Beanballs are dumb. I don't blame a batter for charging the mound, but it's not too bright. Easy way to get injured, and not a good look for Harper throwing the helmet. He's lucky that it seemed to slip out of his hand.

What was the weight of bat Julio Franco used?

Something insane like 44 or 46 ounces. And started it pointed straight at the pitcher....and hit until well into mid 40's, to boot. Never stopped hitting.

Caulfield, what the f***?

The point is that just because Engel's approach looks unorthodox and like he would need to have lightning fast hands to get from starting position to the hitting plane...it doesn't mean it can't work.

That's the point about Julio Franco, nobody in God's green earth would teach someone to hit that way, with that heavy a bat (Moncada's even got some detractors worrying about "bat wrap")...but it worked FOR HIM. If they tried to change him, it probably would have messed him up completely. Every hitter needs their own unique timing mechanism, etc.

Oh.

Well you are in the wrong thread. Hell, you are in the wrong subforum.

Buster Posey standing at home during the fight is the funniest s***

None of the infielders did anything right away. It was sh!t move to plunk a guy because he hit 2 homers against you in the post-season 3 years ago. Doubt Posey or anyone else really agreed with it.

It wasn't a beanball, he hit him in the hip. Next time don't stand and admire your homerun. Pitchers don't like that. What ye sow so shall ye reap.

The one you can make a legit case of him waiting to see if its going to go foul or not as it was right down the line. But still, 3 years later. You wanna show him up? Get him out. Don't plunk him when you're down 3.

I'm sure getting him out really would send the message the pitcher wanted to convey to him. Ooooo, I got you to ground to the second baseman, i showed you!

I don't agree with what he did as far as the retaliation in this case. however, i don't have a problem with it as long as he doesn't throw a true beanball at his head. If they want to throw at the hitter, it's fine as long as it's below the shoulders.

The entire thing was incredibly juvenile but Strickland literally being carried off the field and fighting his teammates every step of the way because his ass was just that red is up there with Ventura v Ryan in terms of on-field embarrassment. He's an incredible dumbass who's been licking his lips for three years, it's pathetic.

Would you be OK with a batter charging the mound and hitting the pitcher with his bat in retaliation to the pitcher celebrating a strike out? Or just getting a punch in?

So, if a pitcher strikes a batter out in a big game with the bases loaded and pumps his arm vigorously in celebration, it would be ok for the hitter to charge the mound because his feelings were hurt?

Edit - didn't notice the post above when I posted.

It didn't stop me from wanting to see him kick Harper's ass.

Instead, it's I can't get you out so I'm going to hit you with a fastball. That's good stuff.
