in what qualifies as good news these days, A Row sez he is going to play some winter ball to get some at bats (cause he didn't get many this season). Implied that the at bats should set him up for a solid spring training.

I hope A Row gets at least 400 at bats next year. He's paid his dues. And he'll bust his ass.

I'd much rather see Everett.

Everett is cool, but he'd make a much better RF/LF/DH, whichever.

Rowand has waited long enough, barring another stupid injury, he should go into the 2004 campaign strong.

I totally agree with you. I love Everett. by him sitting on his ass alot lately, it looks like the Sox don't want him around next year.

I want him to be back real bad! I was considering sending KW a letter regarding what Everett brings to the team and that he should be brought back. I know its a stupid idea, and he wont even read it, but hey. I have nothing better to do.

Sorry, but in terms of defense, Everett can't hold AaRow's jockstrap. Everett consistently throws the ball to the wrong base, allowing runners to advance. He gets quite a few bad reads, which normally means CLee and Maggs have to bail him out. Not to mention that he made 9.150 million this year, and thats something this team can't afford next year. That would be a 23 million dollar combo in CF and RF, thats ridiculous for a team that wont have a payroll over 65-70 million.

that's another reason Rowand needs to play.

With the Sox payroll, they're going to need several guys making $500,000 or so.

Crede will be one.

Olivo will be another.

Rowand will be another.

Everett is a solid player, but he's not a $9 million player and he's not a center fielder.

Just don't see the Sox ponying up to pay him. Rather see them spend the money on pitching.

so give the job to Rowand and find out what he can do.
