I have a homework assignment (for Japanese class) to 'interview' people based on simple questions and report back. This is a language course, so I am not interested in answers that are too deep.

I appreciate any input into the answers and discussion here as I will use it for my essay!

2. What's your favourite Japanese food? In regards to this favourite Japanese food, how do you like it (meaning: What type of sushi do you like? Or how do you like your Ramen?)

3. Do you enjoy anime/manga? If so which ones? If not, what do you think of anime/manga?

 

4. Is there any strange opinions you have on Japanese culture and would like to share?

 

5. Do you play any popular Japanese games? Or Have you? If so, which ones?

1. Never been, but would definitely be interested to go.

2. Love some spicy Ramen. Fan of all sushi pretty much

4. Their Extreme Work culture Where they work even more than America that leads to "Karoshi", working one's self to death.

1. No. Maybe someday but it's not exactly a "must do before I die" for me.

 

2. Ramen I guess. I prepare it the way the package describes. Boil noodles, add flavor packet. Although I probably eat it with more water than recommended so it's more like a soup.

 

3. Not really but my daughters are super into it so I know a little about it.

 

4. My company was recently bought by a Japanese company. We are meeting with some of the guys from the Japanese company on Thursday and we were told to make sure to bring a stack of our business cards. They get offended if you don't offer them a business card apparently?

 

5. I've played most of the Kingdom Hearts games.

1) Yes. I would love to move there.

 

2) I like all types of Japanese food but my all time favorite is any donburi dish.

 

3) Yes. One Piece, Meitantei Conan, Attack on Titan

 

4) Very rigid society that gets things done. A little dabble of American style and Japan would be one of the best countries on earth.

 

5) I played FF back in the day but I don't play games much these days.

Or how do you like your Ramen?) - Sashimi rolls with some variation of shrimp tempura, avocado, tobiko, unagi sauce, tuna, spicy mayo. Don katsu is amazing. Ramen with salt broth and pork.

Examples: Sushi, Ramen, Udon, Tempura, Tonkatsu

 

3. Do you enjoy anime/manga? If so which ones? If not, what do you think of anime/manga? I don't read much manga, just never did it. But I watch a ton of anime: Cowboy BeBop is by far the best one. Trigun, GITS, Deathnote, Princess 9, Sword Art Online, and a few others that I'm forgetting about right now. And any of Hayao Miyazaki's.

 

4. Is there any strange opinions you have on Japanese culture and would like to share? Not sure if I have anything that is strange.

 

5. Do you play any popular Japanese games? Or Have you? If so, which ones? Not sure on this, nothing specific to Japan but I'm sure I've played games developed there without really knowing.

1. Yes and plan to visit again in the next 5 years

2. Yakitori, Yakisoba

3. Not really. Did when I was younger, though

4. Nothing strange; it's an interesting blend of western & eastern cultures, though.

5. Yes. Too many to mention - playing through Yakuza 0 right now.
