Non-tendered Free Agents

I like to have Singleton back to us and Fick wont be a bad idea either. Doesnt Fick have a no non-sense attitude who plays very hard for Tigers. We may need his energy. Singleton is a nice 4th outfielder he has good defense and hopefully he gets his bat skills improved.

I dislike Fick. I live in Michigan and have seen him play a lot. He is not very good. I mean, when the Tigers release you, what does that say? He just is not that good, not at all. He is one player that I do not want to see waste a roster spot on the Sox, he is not worth it, despite his (false) persona that he has some great attitude. He is a lousy ball player and the good attitude thing is all a facade.

Actually, I dislike intensely very few ball players but Fick I do. Again - let go by Detroit who has nothing? That says it all.

They may figure he will cost too much, or with the addition of Gene Kingsale, they now have 4 outfielders....Higginson, Kingsale, Lombard and Magee, and have Andres Torres waiting in the wings, who may be a good leadoff hitter someday. I don't think they are dumping him, but rather fear he will cost too much if he were to be offered arbitration.

Don't worry...the Yankees will sign him and use him as a 7th outfielder. :puke

He had maybe one significant hit all year, and that was in how many at bats - and his fielding is none that good, his catching sucked enough the wouldn't let him do it anymore and he has nothing to offer in the outfield.

Hope the Yankees do sign him. Weaver needs a buddy, someone who understands losing as well as only anohter ex Tiger can.

i was impressed with fick's rm in RF..holy mother of god can that guy throw a baseball...ateast he is more fundementally sound and versitile then dumbass caballo..and no way can he be as dumb...if we could move dumbass caballo for a number 2 or 3 starter and then signed fick to play LF id be ok with that move...or we could just stick liefer out there

Al Levine is a solid setup man. It is doubtful that the Sox will go after him, considering the bullpen is pretty full of good guys. As for Suppan, don't bet on it. He just isn't good. Sure, he was on a bad team, but his ERA was over 5, and it's been that way for more than five years.

1. Mary, the Mother of Jesus, now there is someone with an arm. She would have made a hell of a right fielder!

2. Fick may be more versitile than CLee, CLee can't catch, but Fick can't all that well, but Fick is dumber than CLee, in my opinion having seen both play a lot and never having administered an IQ test to either.

3. I'd just as soon keep CLee unless we can get a good pitcher with him as trade bait and then make Liefer put up or shut up.

4. Supan - whatever spelling - now there is a free agent to go after, as HSC says. As much as she is lusting for him, I presume not only is he a good player but she also likes his butt. Anyway, he is worth whatever it would take to sign him and try him.

Also we should try and sign Fick, he'd make a good backup C, 1B, corner OF. If we can get hit at like 600-800K it would be a great move. He'll get more money elsewhere though.

Fick would be a starter, imo. Well, he couldn't start cause he can't play center, but if we had Fick, I'd be all for dealing Konerko or lee cause Fick would provide a quality left handed stick.

I'd take him over Ritchie in a heartbeat. Only problem is, if he's more expensive than Ritchie would be, then..... well..... I don't have to tell you who will be wearing the white with black pinstripes now do I HSC?

no killa you dont have to tell me... i know it all too well.... but suppans money was like around 3.2 mil... so with the money we saved not signing ritchie we could use to get suppan...dont ya think??

I think it'd be worth it.

That's the point everyone's missing witesoxfan. Since the Sox are not going to get a Colon, Clemens, or Maddux for a number 1 or 2 starter, we have to settle for the next best thing..... and I think anyone on this board who would rather go with Ritchie over a Suppan or a JB would have their work cut out for them trying to sell Ritchie to the majority of Sox fans.
