The idea that Kenny is some cowboy who always wants to go for it no matter the cost is fantasy. The Sox had an impressive core from 2000 on. Supplementing it & augmenting it were the only smart choices. KW did a fantastic job. I think the lack of playoff appearances is more on JR for being too tight to add the final piece. And some of the failures were a direct result of freak player injuries. I think KW did a great job considering he was always $10-$20M short of what he needed to swim with the big dogs and sign cornerstone pieces.
