Harry Chappas
I just turned off XRT and now US99 because I do not want to hear about cub playoff push coverage. Is sportsradio not enough? Looks like CD's for the rest of the day.
Queen Prawn
I flip between my 6 presets whenever scrubbie stuff is on, and if I can't get away, it's CD time for me as well!

Looks like CD's for the rest of the day. Someone else on the "other board" referred to it as the Chicago Media's "Shock and Awe" Cubbie Campaign Speaking of Radio C.U.B.S., I listened to the Cubs broadcast on WGN last night after watching Cincinnatti score 6 while on break. Pat Hughes is good enough but Ron Santo is f***ing awful. He's like post-stroke Harry (now I know why Santo is a god amongst Chicago's NorthSide fans) with inane ramblings and always getting players names wrong. He called Alfonseca Zambrano at a point in the game where Zambrano hadn't pitched for the last 3 innings. He hollars and screams during a radio broadcast making the listener think something great, pro-Cubbie, just occurred only to hear Hughes dejectedly say, "And the ball is caught on the warning track" or, "A backhanded, running catch by Casey." Gimme Rooney and Farmer anyday.
The Critic
Yeah, that wig glue has seeped into Santo's brain! The best thing last night was when Martinez hit that flyball and Chimp said "SWUNG ON BELTED DEEP DRIVE" only to have it caught 10 feet in front of the track. Fantastic... Chimp better thank his lucky stars everyday that his grandfather was a Chicago Sports Media Icon. If he wasn't, Chimp would be shuffling papers for some nondescript office complex making 25,000 a year. Wasn't Chimp hired by the Trib during the offseason before Harry passed thinking they would have a grandfather/grandson announce team? Harry Chappas
Did you happen to hear them talking about the second guessing of pitching to Casey and chimp not wanting to speak his mind and Stone blasting Baker for pitching to Casey. I get the feeling that there is no love lost between Stone and dusty baylor.

Besides, what does he care what theCubs think of what he says anyway? He's gonna own the Las Vegas Sexpos pretty soon!!

whitesoxfan99
Stone doesnt do PBP, but yes he is an EXCELLENT color guy......... Hes pretty good, but the one thing that really bothers me is when he tries to call the next pitch when a batter has two strikes. "Now if Kerry throws another slider down and out of the zone this inning should be over."

D'oh, I don't even know why I said P-B-P I knew color, but I was thinking of him and Hawk teaming up in the booth while I was typing that. I don't mind as an ex-pitcher can bring some good insight as to what the guy on the mound is thinking...

DonkeyKongerko
I will give credit and say Pat Hughes has one of the smoothest PBP deliveries in baseball. If only Santo would stop yelling in the background all the time.

YASNY
How do you guys know what Santo sounds like in the booth? Have you guys been closet Cub listeners? :fthecubs
CubKilla
How do you guys know what Santo sounds like in the booth? Have you guys been closet Cub listeners? :fthecubs I actually listened to my first Cubs broadcast yesterday after watching the Reds put up a 6-spot on the Lovable Losers at lunch. Couple that with the fact that the Sox were getting pasted and I had a choice to make. Listening to the Cubs lose is more enjoyable than listening to the Sox lose. Cubs losing won out
