Yes! The tank is on haha

Exactly what I though upon reading this

A minor league deal is smart for both sides because:

1) No lose situation for the Sox

2) Pelfrey knows that he actually has a legit chance to crack into the rotation at some point this season due to injuries and/or a trade

3) Pelfrey will help us tank even more

His last 460 innings pitched, he's carrying a 4.97 ERA.

Welcome to the team!

s***, just bring back Danks. I dunno.

The last time he was better than Danks was 2010. I think he will be Charlotte filler, but there are enough bad pitchers in the organization to keep this guy out of Chicago. It's going to be depressing enough as it is.

If we really want to tank just bring back tank

If we were looking for a garbage starting pitcher for depth, why wouldn't we look into Doug Fister?

His trend liens are not good, but as recently as three seasons ago he was an above average starter

Pelfrey has been awful for years

Where did it say he was going to start? I quickly glanced and didn't see that.

"With the White Sox slated to be without left-hander Carlos Rodon for at least the next month, the club can now insert another veteran hurler in Pelfey into their current starting rotation."

This looks like mostly guessing, tho. It's probably a minor league deal.

Covey or Ynoa would be the only guys that make sense, unless they're trading a reliever.

No way will it be Ynoa. No options left. Serious question, but is anyone else not high on Petricka and wouldn't mind him being replaced? I'm just not sure he's anything special.

Worst that can happen is that he sucks. Maybe there's enough there to work with that he can be viewed as a capable back of the rotation starter for a contender and he gets flipped for a couple of pieces. Scott Feldman looked like a lost cause when the Cubs signed him, and they turned him into Arrietta and Strop.

Not saying it will happen, but that's your best case scenario.

Glad the Padres beat the Dodgers yesterday, a team that should pound them plenty.

Clayton Richard shutting down the Dodgers is something to behold

The Padres will lose a ton of games this season regardless

Agreed but it's nice seeing them steal a game from the Dodgers. Hopefully the young guys on their team like Margot, Hedges, and Renfroe have nice seasons.
