don't they know they are supposed to lose all of these games?

Even the worst teams win 60 games.

We might be a little too good, but I expect us to be out of it reasonably early and sell at the deadline.

Good game. There was some bad OF defense on both sides today but with the wind it was forgivable. Had no idea why Leury turned his back to the ball and faced the wall on the ball hit by Avila . Then the ball hits off the wall right next to him. I was like turn the f*** around and catch the ball.

Perhaps a counter thread for those who wish to express their delight over the Sox losing. You will never know if those who on that side of things truly expect the Sox to be the worst of 30 teams in hopes of getting Beer ,,,or if they are just plain Cub fans. That's kind of the way it is anyway.

The problem is if the Indians run away with things early....there's suddenly a lot of AL Central supply hitting the June/July trade market competing with our dump list, unfortunately.

Luis Robert might be the bigger get than the return value of all those veteran guys combined.

While I am fully on board with the tank and rebuild, I am rooting for the Sox to win up until it's obvious they aren't any good. If they want to make that July or August instead of May I'm fine with that. If the team is winning more then expected it's because guys are having solid seasons and increasing their trade value or are proving good players for the next playoff team.

If Matt Davidson wants to go ahead and hit 250/320/440 I am not arguing but cheering.

Right now, you call the Royals and trade them Robertson for 2-3 minor leaguers. They are desperate for bullpen help and he might save their season. Other than that, you are not going to get much for any of our guys. Nobody wants Frazier before free agency, ditto Melky and Av and Soto. Nobody wants anybody except Q.

But you have a desperate team in the Royals. Robertson might save their season.

I can guarantee that if Melky, Soto and Todd are better than replacement (and they should be) they will have value in July. Not a lot, but certainly would return like a B- prospect, especially if the Sox pay some freight.

Stop worrying and enjoy the season. We can't lose really. If they suck, great, if they don't suck, that's cool too.

Three problems.

The White Sox would have to eat substantial salary, the relative lack of remaining talent in their farm system to find a match and their rebuilding starting next year when they definitely won't need a super expensive closer and are already stuck with a bad Soria contract.

Nate Jones is the one they would want, more likely. Maybe Putnam if he proves to be healthy/effective again.

They will have some value; but the best value is likely to be in A ball players, which I'd much prefer to stunted/low-ceiling AAA players*. And that's fine...the idea here is to build to contend yearly, and that requires a deep farm and low-minor players - something the Sox haven't shown much interest in over the years.

*Sox already have a surplus of those...hopefully they can get them sorted out and a few turn out to be gems.
