BigHurt3515
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 06:28 PM) 3Ks for Giolito. But man, seeing 89 this much bums me out. Is that from the stadium gun?
DirtySox
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 06:32 PM) Is that from the stadium gun? Yea. Sitting 89 to 91.
caulfield12
I'm going to guess Giolito is actually 91-93 and the gun's off, which isn't uncommon. That said, he's nowhere close to 96-98. Reminiscent of Erik Johnson. What is Lee at? 4 k's for Kopech through 2. Hunter Jones homer for Barons. Defensive whiz C. Rondon won't be hitting .600 for long. maxjusttyped
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 06:31 PM) Damaged goods? QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 06:34 PM) I'm going to guess Giolito is actually 91-93 and the gun's off, which isn't uncommon. That said, he's nowhere close to 96-98. Reminiscent of Erik Johnson. What is Lee at? 4 k's for Kopech through 2. Hunter Jones homer for Barons. Giolitto had already lost ~3.5 MPH off his peak fastball when he was with the Nationals. Unless the Sox thought they could fix something mechanically, it would have been delusional to expect him to be a 96-98 guy this year. For some reason it seems like prospect evaporators didn't pick up on this at all. http://www.brooksbaseball.net/velo.php?pla...17&s_type=
DirtySox
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 06:36 PM) Any swings and misses on fastball? Haven't been paying attention that much to be honestly. Mainly watching the gun.
SoxAce
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 8, 2017 -> 06:21 PM) He's not a major leaguer with his bad spin rate at that velocity I don't mind the velocity loss if he has sick movement, ala Webb in his heyday with the Diamondbacks. But not both.
caulfield12
Kopech just pegged someone on the ankle. Ouch. 5 k's in first 9 batters.

caulfield12
Kopech throwing 90-92 mph sliders but just gave up a run scoring double over Basto's head. Hawkins apparently made a terrible defensive play yesterday, so DHing today. Edited April 8, 2017 by caulfield12
caulfield12
8 outs, six via K's. Two Xbase hits, walk, hbp. Throwing more offspeed stuff now...mostly sliders. 7 k's through 3 ip. 51 p, 30 strikes.
caulfield12
Moncada needs to work on his bunting. No surprise there. Had runners on first and second, popped it up trying to sacrifice himself. Walk parade though. Delmonico just took one with bases loaded after W Garcia walked, 2-1 with Smith up. Smith singles, Hayes GS, 7-1 in a heartbeat. Edited April 9, 2017 by caulfield12
Chicago White Sox
The velocity is dissapointing for Giolito, but the K's are somewhat encouraging. I think it's way too early to panic about the velocity decline though. Let's give him a chance to work through his mechanical issues. SoxAce
It's fun seeing the Knights average like 7 runs a game so far.
caulfield12
8 k's, wiped out the guy who homered with offspeed pitch after getting tagged by a hard hit ball hit back up the middle. Shook it off. 9 k's. Runner advanced to second a steal. Kopech is entertaining, now a passed ball on catcher. 10 k's. Almost 70 pitches through 4. Fun stuff. Heads22
Delmonico homers, then Hayes homers again. Charlotte is scoring all the runs.
