Yeah, then Avi showed him how to hit with runners on.

All our Garcia's have hit a HR today.

Last year when people would ask about anything Avi did right I made sure to point out he was one of the best Sox hitters with RISP. If he took that approach and applied it to all his AB's he may have found something.

Avi got some love on MLB network today appearing on the Rundown about his hot start. They took a few twitter questions from fans and one asked him to hit a HR for him tonight. Avi gave the diplomatic answer but might see a reference to it on MLB network highlights tonight.

Good god, not a good sign for Renteria's in-game strategy.

I'm not watching but I'm going to guess that's something Jose did on his own.

Abreu had to do that on his own as Hawk said. He had already K'd twice and probably not seeing the ball real well against Severino. Hey at least he didn't hit into a DP though if the Yanks let that popup drop it's an easy Dp maybe even a triple play since Abreu didn't bother to run it out. In fact he was turned around heading back to the dugout as the ball was caught.

So Miguel Gonzalez is gonna Maddux the Yankees at Yankee Stadium, huh? This sport is weird.

It's not like he doesn't have a ton of experience against them, pitching for the Orioles for all those years.

Of course, familiarity works the other way, too. Not usually to the benefit of the pitcher.

Add me to list of expecting that Jose thought that was a good odea

Thank you guys for clarifying, I retract my Renteria rip.

Yeah, you could argue he was trying to be a "team player," knew quite well how badly he's been struggling, wanted to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING positive.

That said, he's paid to drive the ball, and pick up RBI's, and trying to do something way outside of your skill set might be great for symbolic teammate purposes but is usually going to end up counterproductive.

I mean, at least he avoided the dp lol. But yeah, I think Avi should now be batting third.
