winninguglyin83
Ed Farmer told a nice story about Carl Everett tonight said the Sox were voting on post-season shares for possible second-place money guys who have not been with the team all season are not invited to the meeting -- per baseball custom Farmer said Everett told the players not to vote to give him any money. Instead, he wanted them to take his share and spread it out to the younger guys on the team who have only been around for the last part of the season. Sure, Everett has plenty of dough. But Farmer said you'd be surprised at the number of big-name guys through the years who only let go of their money long enough to get a better grip on it. Yet another reason that I want Everett back next year.
IlliniBob72
I don't give a s*** of this guy still believes the Earth is flat, this guy needs to be brought back.
southsider2k5
The other interesting part of that story was Farmio eluding the fact that Pete Rose would not vote shares for anyone who wasn't with the team all year, so that it did not dilude his share. Funny how that kind of karma comes back around to bite you in the ass. And yes, good for Carl Everett. The guy has really grown on me in these few months and it is too bad that it sounds like he is not coming back here.
winninguglyin83
he brings a lot of plusses. switch hitter. plays hard. can play all three outfield spots -- although he is better off not playing CF. Can also DH. solid power. good speed The problem will be: How much money will he want to come back and how many years? And, of course: How many other teams will pursue him? Some teams might stay away from him because of his rep, although I have to admit I haven't seen any negatives from his during his three months in Chicago. Bighurt52235
I'm falling in love with Carl Everett. I would absolutely love for him to come back next year. I wonder why he (and Robbie for that matter) have been sitting a whole bunch lately.
winninguglyin83
Everett is sitting so Rowand finally gets some at bats not sure about Robbie because Miles and Harris are only getting occasional looks
Capn12
Well, if ya want Carl around, it may cost ya Maggs position. If this organization is stupid enough to let CLee get away for Carl to play LF, I'll be seriously scratching my head. No chance he should come back as the everyday CF, Rowand is so much better in the field, at a key defensive position. That leaves RF, where we have 20% of our expected 2004 payroll playing. Folks, Maggs may not be with the Sox come next year, methinks....but if we replace him with Carl for a year or 2, I may be ok with it, assuming we get Carl at 7-8 mil. SuperSteve
Man, I love Carl. That is the kind of leadership that we need here. I hope he is happy here, maybe we could get him back for a decent price.
DBAHO
Man's that great. Carl Everett is starting to ooze leadership around this ballclub. We need more guys like him than those who just care about their own stats.

Soxplosion
I love Carl. Liked him ever since he got here and I always will. Honestly, if Maggs has to go for him to stay, so be it. This guys a great player and he has heart. We need that...
BurlyMan56
I think Tampa Bay would be a great spot for Carl in 2004. They need a big bat, lefty in there, and a leader.. Lou wants to win.
Soxplosion
Carl deserves to play for a winner. Dont let him go to TB...
BurlyMan56
I'm not saying I don't want Carl here, I'm saying TB would love to have him cuz it is what they need.
DBAHO
If he goes to TB he's have to play RF with Crawford and Baldelli in Left and Center respectively. Man that'd be some outfield. But personally I think Carl will either be a Oriole (they need some pop in the outfield, don't have any good CF, so Mora can play infield) a Ranger (they might want him back) or a Dodger (if they don't want Roberts). San Franscisco could also be a option if they lose 1 one of Bonds, Grissom or Cruz Jr.
CubKilla
No chance he should come back as the everyday CF, Rowand is so much better in the field, at a key defensive position. Rowand might be better in the field but he was swinging a Wiffle Ball bat in April and May. I wish I was as confident as you with Rowand being our everyday CF because I cringe at the thought of another 2 months in '04 of Dorn-like numbers. I still think that dirt bike accident messed Rowand up early in the year. I like the guy and think he'll be a solid major league centerfielder. However, Reed just might push him in spring training. Injury or no injury..... he flat out sucked and because of it, we were forced to play Armando Rios early in the season.
Capn12
And since his visit to Charlotte to re-establish his swong, the guy, when given the rare AB by Manuel, has been pretty good. He only got 156 damn ABs!!! :fyou JM. He managed to hit .282 in those random ABs, and I'm not sure that Carl can do what he did here again in 2004. I'd love to have Carl, but out of Carl, Frank and Konerko...at least ONE of them HAS to go. Too much in financial implications between those 3 next year.
