May 6th Game Thread: White Sox at Baltimore

Recommended Posts

Two pitchers with the same first name (Dylan) starting tonite. One has been very good, the other Dylan probably belongs in the bullpen. José Abreu has previously hit a home run off Dylan Bundy. Would be nice if José can hit another homer tonite.

The other Dylan probably belongs in Birmingham or Winston-Salem.

True, but the Sox can't send Dylan Covey down to the minors because he was a 'Rule 5 Draft' selection. Rules require that he stays with the MLB club for the entire season, or else he gets released and returned to his former organization (Oakland). The Sox can only send down Dylan Covey next season, like what happened to Adrian Nieto.

Would it be so terrible to do that, or would it just be better to keep him up here to tank and see what this kid has?

Is it "released and offered back" or waived to be sent down and we have to offer hm back for $25K? I think the other team can let him pass

I guess it's what a rebuilding process looks like

He's got a decent scouting report but seems to have had some setbacks. I haven't paid close attention to him pitching but if I remember correctly he got lit up at least once this year. Maybe he'll slide to the bullpen when Shields or Rodon gets back instead of being sent back to Oakland.

He's gotten lit up a couple times. Danced a tight rope in the decent outings. Watch today or his next start. The guy gets hit HARD. A lot. It's not going to get better anytime soon. He is nowhere near ML ready and probably never will be anything more than 25th man type. With the decent start, I'd prefer they start someone else as I see no real chance of him being a part of the future. Problem is Danish is about the only realistic option until we get healthy and the passage of time for Lopez. I'd rather watch Jordan Guerrero go out there until Rodon/Sheilds/Lopez are going out there every 5th day.

Stone Pony and the guys keep saying that he is a sinker ball pitcher but he leaves everything up

This should really be it for him. It's not doing anyone any good.

Yeah, he has no future with the Sox, and it would probably be easier to dump him if Shields and Rodon werent hurt. On thr other hand, way to come back and strike out Davis after being 2-0. Credit where credit is due I suppose. Then that dumbass balk.

Time for Covey to be sent back to Oakland

This. Or send some s***ty A baller over for him, and send him to Birmingham. No point in letting him start another game.

He's one of the worst starters I've ever seen get multiple starts for the Sox. I feel bad for him

Danks? And I dont feel bad for him. Dude has guaranteed a major league roster spot, and he's making millions. Shouldn't be playing in the majors. Time to end the experiment. Results have been proven to be the same over and over again.
