username
Time to get excited about Spencer Adams again? 5 innings 5 K's. Love to see that in conjunction with that big 10 K game the other week.
SoxAce
Sean Newcomb, another guy whose name was thrown around in Q rumors, pitching I see.
caulfield12
Purke in after Lopez hit a batter. Saved two inherited runners from scoring with a 3-2 curveball for the k. Reynaldo, Over 100 pitches and couldn't get through six. Only two earned runs, 7 k's, but 5 walks. Edited May 7, 2017 by caulfield12

caulfield12
Someone just bid $2060 on the Moncada charity jersey auction for the Knights. Special pink jersey for Mother's Day/cancer funds. Fulmer and Giolito are low $500's. Bidding ends middle of seventh.
Feeky Magee
QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2017 -> 08:24 PM) Still gives up way too many hits to be a legit MLB starter Not sure I follow this. If the strikeouts aren't there, he'll give up too many hits, sure. But if they're there, as the poster you're quoting is hoping, he shouldn't. Unless you think he has a particular negative ability to control balls in play that basically no other pitcher has (stats show pitchers have very little control of their BABIP). But if they're there, as the poster you're quoting is hoping, he shouldn't. Unless you think he has a particular negative ability to control balls in play that basically no other pitcher has (stats show pitchers have very little control of their BABIP). Just judging by the amount of hits he's given up in his career, there is something about his stuff that leads to a lot of success for hitters. I've also yet to see any real positive in-person reports on him since his first season.
caulfield12
Has anyone ever figured out why Adams' velocity never picked up? Just too optimistic originally based on frame, athleticism and scouts' projections? Danny Hayes just hit a three run bomb, his sixth homer. 7-3 Knights. Kevan Smith has been red hot, too, but doesn't seem to translate at the next level for him. Edited May 7, 2017 by caulfield12

maxjusttyped
If Adams could maintain these K% and BB% numbers in upper levels he'd actually be making himself into a decent prospect again. But that's a big if. I wonder if anything has changed with him mechanics or stuff wise.

Jake
How does Kevan Smith hit so well in AAA and look like he's swinging a lead bat in MLB? Also, somebody needs to intervene with Hawkins. Something is wrong and somebody needs to make it stop one way or another. Bounce him over to extended spring, get him talking to somebody, understand what's going on in his head, and don't put him back in AA or A+ or anywhere else until you find a level of pitching he doesn't flounder against. He's playing way below his true talent (even if his true talent is below-average AA player) and there's no way he's in anything resembling a good place mentally. He's been quietly putting together a good season. Not getting a whole lot of attention. Needs to walk more tho.
