Manuel's Replacement

Recommended Posts

A few questions arise when I think about the firing of Jerry Manuel.

#1.) Will he just go or will all the coaching staff go? That is key...It depends mainly on KW.

#2.) If coaches are not brought back, would they be sent to a minor league team within our organizations?

#3.) Do you see any of the players of Jerry Manuel's loyalists leave because of this change?

#4.) What is likely to be his replacement in your opinion?

My list of canidates:

Tom Kelly

Frank Robinson

Tony Larussa

Wally Backman

Jim Leyland

Ozzie Smith

Carlton Fisk

I want Santos to coach the team but even if he retires this year he will want to take at least one year off. But maybe we will sign whoever the new manager is for 2-3 years, sandy will play one more season, then have 1-2 seasons of rest then he could manage the team. It is obvious that he will be a good manager some day.......lets hope its with us.

None of those.

Buddy Bell or Cito will get the job.

Buddy Bell ain't gonna do s*** with us. He's an old s***. No motivation, nothing. Also who is Cito?

I didn't say Bell would make a difference, you asked who is the most likely to be named.

Cito Gastion, he was the manager of the Blue Jays in the 90's when they won the World Series.

Look at the Marlins with a manager in his 70's.

Wasn't he also not allowed in the lockerroom during the 1993 ALCS

You are correct. I could have spelled out all of the incidents off the top of my head where JR f***ed Pudge, but I didn't feel like it. Critic is correct also. Anyone remember Fisk in LF? Jesus..... that was one of the dumbest ideas..... EVER!!!!!

Maybe we can lure Frank Robinson over from Montreal?

I realize the Expos haven't won a whole heck of a lot the last two years... but considering the future that team had at the time, this man did a hell of a job with nothing. If he can fire up a bunch of players afraid of not having a team next year, think of what he could do with a team full of talent.

I would luv Frank Robinson to be our manager in 2004. Dunno if he'd leave the Expos though but with Vladimir leaving for greener pastures he might think it's a no win situation ova there and want to leave. But if we can't get him, hire Backman.
