Rowand44
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 19, 2017 -> 12:29 AM) There is no such thing and you don't wish for your team to tank for a draft pick This stuff gets annoying. You're allowed to enjoy this team however you want but don't tell others what they can or can't do either.

You're allowed to enjoy this team however you want but don't tell others what they can or can't do either. El Rockin is the "best fan" on this site. He's saying a good fan does not want his team to lose, not calling anybody out. Look this is a modern thing rooting for your own team to lose, started by Sixers and their fans. This tanking thing is a new phenomenon and a lot of us think it is UNHEARD of to want your team to lose, that's all.
caulfield12
http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/sortable.jsp#elem...s=1495227482698 For the record, the White Sox are 9th in MLB ERA, and that's throwing sacrificial guys like Dylan Covey and Pelfrey out there 40% of the time. 3.98. Who's just ahead of us?, the Cubs at 3.91. It's also with their "best" pitcher in Jose Quintana battling inconsistency with a mid 4's ERA. Pitching has not been the problem. Rowand44
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 19, 2017 -> 01:03 AM) Practice what you preach. This is professional baseball played with integrity and respect for the game This makes no sense but ok. Once again, you're allowed to enjoy the sport anyway you want but there are people out there who think it's best for the health of their favorite team to lose these games. "You don't wish for your team to tank for a draft pick" isn't something you get the decision to make for others. Lip Man 1
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 18, 2017 -> 11:31 PM) Amen elrockin. I am in your corner! I HATE losing I hate losing as well and I've seen it seven times in the last ten seasons trying the old method. Since ownership won't change (for now) and the front office won't change (for now) and the philosophy as far as payroll won't change (for now) this was the best that could be hoped for. That's not being a "good" fan or a "bad" fan, that's simply saying the status quo was awful and drastic measures needed to be taken. Losing games to get the highest draft pick possible is for right or wrong, part of the new reality. I suggest we all get used to that idea in my opinion. If you have tapes or DVD from better seasons, I suggest you break them out and start watching them frequently. Again just my opinion. Tonight for example I re-watched Game #3 of the 2005 ALDS at Boston and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Therewas a story literally yesterday that Mark Cuban wad hoping for losses for his own team when he realized they weren't going to make the playoffs to get a better lottery position.
