LittleHurt05
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 07:43 PM) Wasn't he roughed up last weekend? 7 innings, 4 runs vs Yankees. Not awesome, not awful. 5 of his 6 starts before then were dominant. Except for the Indians.

He can pull a Bumgarner in the playoffs as long as they don't face the Indians.
Yoda
Sale became the fastest pitcher in MLB history to reach 1500 strikeouts, doing so in 1,290 total innings. Amazing considering how he came up out of the bullpen first and has pitched in just the AL.
flavum
QUOTE (Yoda @ Aug 30, 2017 -> 06:14 AM) Sale became the fastest pitcher in MLB history to reach 1500 strikeouts, doing so in 1,290 total innings. Amazing considering how he came up out of the bullpen first and has pitched in just the AL. But it's fastest to 1500 K based on innings, so pitching out of the pen was to his advantage in this accomplishment.
LittleHurt05
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 24, 2017 -> 07:14 PM) Starting his late season fade again? Another bad September start...
kitekrazy
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 09:02 PM) Another bad September start... They should have left him in. Addison Reed didn't help much.
SoxAce
Who would've thought Todd Frazier would take him deep twice now.
BlackSox13
The difference between last year and this is that Sale doesn't have to face the ALC as often. If he were in the Central still, his numbers would be similar to 2016. Not trying to take anything from Sale, he's a great pitcher, but for the most part the Central teams have hit him well. Wait until the AL East gets the book on him. He might not be as good as he was with our Sox going forward. Sale is a bit of a headcase. He reminds me of Crazy Carlos Zambrano. Also, I think Kluber has overtaken him for AL Cy Young. Edited September 13, 2017 by Jack Parkman
LittleHurt05
Think many of us may have jumped the gun in handing Chris the Cy Young award earlier, Kluber is definitely taking control.

The ALC adapted so there's no reason to think the ALE will not do the same. The Yanks have hit Sale the last few times so it looks like they've adapted. Yeah, Sale is a bit of a headcase but he still falls short of Zambozo. Sale is intense but Zambozo was just plain nuts. At least Sale didn't fight with his catcher, lol. As for the CY. Not sure if I'd take Kluber or Sale at this point. Strong arguments can be made for both. Edited September 13, 2017 by BlackSox13

He had a monster year this year and is still probably going to fall short. I'm starting to doubt he ever gets one.

I would still give it to him. He leads Kluber in fWAR by a full win.
