Bmr31
Cant seem to hit under pressure? In meaningless games they just BASH the ball....
CubKilla
Cant seem to hit under pressure? You just answered your own question. This team is a gaggle of ShamME's when it comes to a pressure/clutch situation.
Mr. Showtime
Cant seem to hit under pressure? In meaningless games they just BASH the ball.... Because they all try to be the hero and swing for the fences. Now they're relaxed, and besides, this game has about $10,000 per man so it's not meaning less! greg775
Great, great post. Our team in a nutshell. Hit the hell outta it except when the heat is on in Minnie.
Bmr31
Another thing hawk just mentioned. No home runs and 13 runs? Hmmmmmmm, interesting. NOW they decide to play the game right???
GASHWOUND
Well, if they are gonna score all these runs they might as well score some insane total like 30 runs or something...that hasn't happened in awhile
DBAHO
Yeah it's more embarissing to be a White Sox than a Royal right now, knowing that u can only perform in meaningless games.
witesoxfan
I think you can blame one man, and I hope by about 7:00 a clock tomorrow, he is no longer employed by the White Sox.

Well.. it's the same man that's there right now.. and they are playing like they should be. I'm sorry.. but the guys on the field are at fault, too. Rex Hudler
Cant seem to hit under pressure? In meaningless games they just BASH the ball.... Bobby Valentine has made this point several times this year and I think it is valid and applies here, regardless of what you think of the source. Basically, when teams play to win, they fail. They press. They try to do too much and end up doing less. They forget about doing the little things, thinking that they have to do something to win the game. On the surface, you would want your players playing to win, however a slight mental adjustment makes a difference. He said that successful teams go out, play like they know how, do all of the little things and have fun and then winning takes care of itself. If you think about it, it does make sense. If the talent is there and you take care of the small things, you don't press, thinking you have to hit a 3-run HR right now. I think the Sox were guilty of that very thing. Everybody wanted to do it themselves and make the big hit and they pressed. The more you press, the worse it gets. I think the Sox were able to just go out and have fun and play most of the time in the second half. Unfortunately, at certain times, they got away from that. It makes sense to me.
