any advantage to us if it is a three way tie for second (since we are teasing out all scenarios)?

Tiebreaker is given to the team with the worse 2016 record, so the Phillies own the tiebreaker with us but we own the tiebreaker with the Tigers and Giants.

It would help if we'd sit Abreu and Garcia; I'm not sure why they are playing every day, regardless of the need to tank.

Detroit is showing teams how tanking is properly done. They aren't even trying.

Detroit is a poor excuse for a baseball team.

The league should investigate the Tigers for intentionally losing/tanking . If found to be guilty of that the penalty should be a loss of their first round pick.

The cubs admittted to tanking and the league did nothing

Hopefully the Angels have some motivation to get to .500 before the season ends and they light up Covey. I expect some of their regulars to sit tonight, though.

Also, the Indians are still trying to wrap up the AL 1-seed. Their magic number is 3, and they should beat a tired Twins team this afternoon.

Low expectations for the Sox losing all 4, but it's not out of the question. And then the Phillies would have to beat the Mets twice for the Sox to move up to 3rd.

Dammit. And this was a year where they were going for it. Reminds me of our 13 Sox how we ended up with a third pick.

It will be alright man. I mean, yeah the Tigers will pick #1 or 2. But...they got little else in their system. Their future is still bleak.

We're going to add the #4 or #5 pick in the draft to a system that already has Moncada, Giolito, Kopech, Jimenez, Robert, Collins, Hansen....our future is flipping loaded. And remember, the top of this draft is supposed to be deep. As in #5 hopefully will get a better player than it would most other years. We'll be fine.

One way to look at it is that the Draft could be divided into 4 categories: Best H. S. pitcher, best H.S. position player and the same for the Top College prospects.

So, even picking 4TH, you have the best of one of those categories, at a minimum. That should console those who are so disappointed that the Sox Draft position is slipping. Moreover, there is no consensus #1, 2 or 3.

Hey, those who want Beer may get your wish. He could be a reasonable pick at around #5.
