maxjusttyped
Moncada chased a garbage change-up to K in his first AB.

Donaldo
QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 27, 2017 -> 05:54 PM) Basabe 1-1, 2B in the early going. He seems to be hitting better since being moved out of the leadoff spot.

fathom
Moncada almost paralyzed himself with a bad slide, but great swing
caulfield12
Hayes grand salami, Asche homers, suddenly CHA leads in a heartbeat, 6-5 Moncada a double and triple in his last two ab's. Asche 9/22 since demotion, reached base all four times tonight, three hits and a walk....triple short of the cycle but probably won't hit again unless extras. caulfield12
Burdi just blew the save and maybe worse...might be bothered by brother's injury? 11 balls, 6 strikes. Wild pitch puts two go ahead runs in scoring position with no outs yet recorded. Another walk, bases loaded, no outs. Coming unglued. Single scores two, three in already and still no outs. Yikes. Pulled for Matt Purke. 8-6. Era up to 3.38 and probably one more will be charged to him unless Purke is Houdini. Nope. 4.34, reminiscent of David Robertson implosion last year. fathom
Burdi's implosion all started with May's mediocre defense. A few cheap hits followed.
caulfield12
Which is why the organization really needs to reprioritize defense again. Didn't they learn anything from 2005/08/10/12?????
ottawa_sox
Cody Asche played third tonight.
fathom
QUOTE (ottawa_sox @ May 28, 2017 -> 02:36 AM) Cody Asche played third tonight. More importantly, Delmonico played LF

daa84
bizarre to me that with burdis stuff he still seems semi prone to these outings. Moncada is an absolute stud
fathom
QUOTE (daa84 @ May 28, 2017 -> 03:51 AM) bizarre to me that with burdis stuff he still seems semi prone to these outings. Moncada is an absolute stud We talked about it in ST, but I hate Burdi's set-up. Also have noticed he has a tendency to throw sliders that back up and go way up and in to righties
Dam8610
Hitters did well tonight. Pitchers...not so much, except for the great performance by Adams.
bmags
Sox wanted Burdi to face adversity, he has some now.
Dick Allen
It was Burdi's first back to back outing of the season.
Springfield Soxfan
QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2017 -> 09:25 PM) Burdi's implosion all started with May's mediocre defense. A few cheap hits followed. Agreed, May should have caught the first ball that was hit his way by the hitter leading off that inning and then May totally missed the cutoff man or he would have been out at 3rd. Changed whole tenor of the inning.
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2017 -> 10:19 PM) We talked about it in ST, but I hate Burdi's set-up. Also have noticed he has a tendency to throw sliders that back up and go way up and in to righties Pretty sure that's his change-up. Same velo range.
