Cubs celebrate...

Is anyone else put off by the Cubs' antics after clinching the division? I understand it's exciting and they are happy, but come on now. Spraying champagne on the fans in the bleachers? Dancing around like school girls? Do what teams that expect to win do. Go to the locker room, spray some champagne, and say "We're not content with just making the post-season." They seem to be just the opposite, just f***ing thrilled to be making the playoffs. I actually love it...they're setting themselves up for another sweep by the Braves.

And don't even get me started with all the reporters airing from the Cubby Bear abd whatnot. Again, the only thing that keeps me from kicking my TV in is the thought of all these "fans" watching the Cubs lose to the Braves. The only downside is that many of them won't mind.

They did the same s*** in 1998 and that was only a WildCard berth. What do you expect from a team that embraces losing like it's a tradition?

Hopfully this is the last time they celebrate this year..

But i dont have a problem with it. They havent been in the playoffs since 98, Were'nt even close to 500. last year, and now are in playoffs. Let'em celebrate.

as much as I hate the cubs, I can't be angry at them for celebrating. We cant expect them to hang their heads in shame...until they get swept by the Braves that is.

I know were all a little..... well I'll call it jealous, because I am... but we dont gotta be sour pusses and try and demean the Cubs celebration. I know if the Sox woulda the Central I woulda been going nuts and s*** to.

14 years without a divison title... give em a little slack.

You win a division, you get to celebrate.

Oh, and f*** the Cubs and every one of their f***ing fans.

You said it. I don't have a problem with the celebrating - it is certainly to be expected, but they better crash and burn against the Braves or teh city will be unbearable for Sox fans all winter.

I was ticked off though, when the first part of the LAST WGN Sox broadcast of the year was pre-empted in favor of live reports outside the Urine Palace and inside the Cubby Bear. I know that's how it's gonna be with Cubs/Tribune/WGN, but it was kind of turning the blade to have to watch that when all I wanted to do was have a couple of beers and enjoy one last game on TV before the long, dark winter of our discontent sets in.

Go Braves and Marlins! And Go Yankees until the Twinks are out! Then completely fall apart against whoever you face. Is that asking too much?

If the Sox clinched the division at home they would have acted the same way and we fans would have loved every single minute of it. They won and deserve to celebrate like that....people need to stop trying to find something wrong with everything associated with the Cubs.

Now that being said, I do hope and pray that they're knocked out in 3 games.

Agreed. The fact is that the Cubs earned it and the Sox were the biggest chokejobs.

I guess I didn't get my feelings across properly, as I got into the same frustrating discussion with the wife about it. I don't really care that they're celebrating. What I said to the wife was that they're celebrating too much, like they are just TOO happy to be there. If the Sox were doing that, I'd feel the same way...congrats, you won the division in a tight race, but in reality, you haven't won s*** yet. I felt that being so happy about making the playoffs will lead to an early exit.

The Sox threw beer on the fans in Minnesota and showered the fans on the ooponents field. Where is Jimmy Piersal at to complain about this now?

I think part of it may be the Cubs hadn't clinched anything at Wrigley since 1932.

Who cares how much or how hard they celebrated. More than likely they know they're getting swept by the Braves anyway.

There is no way they get swept.
