greg775
So Kathy Griffin the comic thought it was wise/funny to hold a severed bloodied head (fake of course) of Trump in a photo shoot that was all over TMZ and other outlets. The head was pretty grotesque as in the video portion of the shoot, the head is dripping fake blood, etc., pretty gross and the immediate response of anybody with a brain is it's very unappealing to the eye. Some might even conjure images of ISIS beheading people. Any way... There's been an uproar on social media. She's already issued an apology on Twitter and Facebook. Already MGM resorts in Vegas says she has no concerts with them in future; some casino canceled her upcoming appearance; CNN says it will assess her role on New Year's Rockin Eve; Anderson Cooper denounced what she did. People are calling for boycotts of anybody who has anything to do with her. All I can say is ... unwise career move for Ms. Griffin. The photo looks pretty realistic. It's not funny in any way. Makes you wonder how people with a brain make these type career decisions. Even if it went over well with the anti Trump people (which it hasn't; Chelsea Clinton called it "vile") you would think she'd know it's career suicide. How can anybody risk having her perform in their club/casino/TV show when there could be violence at said club/casino/TV show in response to her violent picture? What do u guys think? I think Griffin made a big mistake and the country is outraged. Free Speech is AWESOME but with it come consequences. And by holding up a severed fake head of Trump, she probably has pulled a Sinead O'Connor and could be done. What do u say?? p.s. This has been a weird Tuesday for greg. Melky becomes one of my all time faves by batting and getting a hit after getting hit HARD in the face with a foul ball and Chelsea Clinton is one of the first celebrities to denounce what Griffin did. I'm already a fan of Melky for life now. And I am feeling pretty positive vibes toward Chelsea at this time, taking a stand so quickly against Ms. Griffin's distasteful display. EvilJester99
Just imagine the uproar if a conservative would have done this with Obama's head. I saw a tweet that is true for this as well. If Kathy Griffiin wants to shock people she should try to actually be funny. Edited May 31, 2017 by EvilJester99
caulfield12
Well, not only would it be an uproar, there would be the long march of historical arguments going back to the KKK/Jim Crow days...when blacks were routinely lynched, dismembered, disappeared, beheaded, etc. https://images.search.yahoo.com/search/imag...mp;action=click The ugly spectre of Emmitt Till's open casket in 1955 would be raised yet again. Oh, like these? http://www.wthr.com/article/boone-county-r...g-obama-display https://thinkprogress.org/2-fans-dressed-up...tay-895625d224d What she did was disgusting. But it is funny how the right still thinks it treated Obama with the utmost respect, and is oblivious to all the BS they did. StrangeSox
It's pretty funny to me that conservatives are still going to try to complain about decorum and inappropriate behavior after electing Trump, the man who bragged about sexually assaulting women and getting away with it because he's rich. Kyyle23
QUOTE (raBBit @ May 31, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) I agree with you here but it's the same as all the people asking GOP leaders to apologize for the body slamming Congressman. Each side does it. It's stupid. One of the reasons I hate partisanship. Voluntary hypocrisy. All politics aside that was one creepy looking picture. It's like they made Griffin's make up intentionally freaky. I dont wish for GOP leaders to apologize for him. I do wish for him to step away from the position he just won. That situation is extremely messed up
caulfield12
Nobody agrees with what she did...what is the argument? That she should be arrested by the Secret Service for making a "credible" threat on the President's life? Clearly she'll lose her New Year's hosting gig. A shock comedian vs. an elected official that assaulted a reporter and the first amendment. This would be like asking GOP leaders to apologize for Ted Nugent
StrangeSox
One GOP leader recently invited Ted Nugent to the White House! I also don't equate some garbage "art" piece to assaulting a reporter in a fit of rage because they dared to ask you about a major political issue. greg775
Man this disgusting incident is bringing out the "yeah, but ...." crowd. It's pretty horrifying to hold up a decapitated fake head with fake blood dripping down in the video portion. And it's clearly Trump being depicted. Pretty gross and inappropriate and f***ing stupid all at the same time. Definitely not good comedy. Yeah I guess we could bring up all the other incidents like the hanging in effigy of President Obama and Ted Nugent and all that and get mad about them as well. But this one is current. It was despicable and yeah, I do hope her career is ruined over it. There's a chance it could be. She mainly does standup gigs. Vegas now wants nothing to do with her and the smaller venues won't touch her as well. Maybe we who hate it are snowflakes. I just don't care to joke about cutting peoples heads off when that actually is a tactic of one of our enemy's. I guess some of you want to bring up all the horrible examples of inappropriate behavior. OK fine but I can't believe many people on here aren't horrified by Griffin.
