Chicago White Sox
A lot of good pitching today. I apologize in advance if Cooper isn't actually starting (the Barons haven't announced starters), but it appears to be his turn in the rotation. Also, we got a couple of morning games with Kannapolis starting at 10:00am & game 1 for Birmingham starting at 11:00am. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20170606 Edited June 6, 2017 by Chicago White Sox
maxjusttyped
Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, & Dunning sounds like a pretty good future rotation to me. What an exciting day of pitching probables.
bmags
W-S has a good chance to win two. They've been playing better ball since getting Trey/Barnum back, along with Thompson pitching better.
caulfield12
Don't see a Kopech listed...is that from Barons' site? Who else could they start in Game 2? Snodgress? Stephens gives them six starters. Lowry gone? Colton Turner, Dunning (other one)....account for only games not started by Big 4, Lowry and now Stephens. Finally, when is Luis Robert going to appear in a game? DSL in 15 minutes. Edited June 6, 2017 by caulfield12
bmags
Well I don't see an instagram story from Robert so I'm assuming he's not playing. I would expect 3-4 shirtless selfies prior to his first game.

Birmingham hasn't announced starters for either game, but Kopech hasn't pitched since 5/31 and I'm nearly positive he should be going today. Cooper I'm less certain of now that Stephens is back. I'd assume Lowry would be the off man out, but the Sox haven't always committed to Cooper starting.
caulfield12
Hawkins K's first at-bat results in, you guessed it...a K. Kopech starting Game 1 at 11 am CST. Edited June 6, 2017 by caulfield12
Sleepy Harold
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 10:28 AM) Hawkins K's first at-bat results in, you guessed it...a K. Kopech starting Game 1 at 11 am CST. Hawkins now 0-3 with 2 Ks. Very quiet day thusfar for the Kanny bats.
fathom
Any velocity reports on Kopech? This game is like the opposite of every start he's had
Chicago White Sox
Flores with a great start: 6 IP, 7 K, 0 BB, 5, HR 0 HR, 0 R, 66/97 strikes Kopech struggling a bit into the 3rd.
Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 11:41 AM) Flores with a great start: 6 IP, 7 K, 0 BB, 5, HR 0 HR, 0 R, 66/97 strikes Kopech struggling a bit into the 3rd. And it looks like Kopech struck out the side in the 3rd.
Rowand44
Not one of Kopech's prettier starts, that's for sure.

ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) Not one of Kopech's prettier starts, that's for sure. He was doing fine until he blew up in the 6th inning. 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K through 5. 1/3 IP, 0 H, 3 ER, 3 BB in the 6th inning alone. He walked 3 straight to load the bases, was pulled, and Leyer ended up allowing all 3 inherited runners to score.
Feeky Magee
Bernardo Flores is firmly on my radar. Walks nobody, strikes out enough, gets grounders. One of many who should be in Winston-Salem soon.

He's allowed to have a non perfect start, like I said, just not the prettiest game he's ever pitched.
caulfield12
I think that was the 3rd time he'd faced the Smokies? Adolfo with go ahead RBI double in 16th for Kanny, some pretty brutal offensive numbers in that one.
Chicago White Sox
Snodgress got the start in game 2 of Birmingham's double-header, so Cooper is probably going tomorrow then for what I believe is another double header.
maxjusttyped
LOL - Rodon 10 pitches, 9 strikes. 3 strikeouts. Just hit 98 mph on the gun. https://twitter.com/SSS_joshnelson/status/872201728426422272 Sounds like a Chris Sale rehab start. Very encouraging to see. bmags
Ha, yeah, I've wondered with Carlos. Feels like he's being held back and doesn't necessarily agree with hit. Not surprised he may go all out right away.
Feeky Magee
2B Danny Mendick hitting .296/.385/.493 at W-S, good for a 142 wRC+. Was name-checked on Fangraphs' fringe prospects a few weeks back. Old for the level, good for a promotion I would say.
