southsider2k5
With the two Louisville signings, the Sox are sitting an estimated $62,800 ahead of their bonus pool number, with Evan Skoug left to sign. With his slot of $201,700, the Sox can offer him an estimated $264,500 signing bonus without going over their pool total and into tax territory. The Sox also can go over their team allotment of $7,921,400 by up to 5%, or $396,070, if they are willing are to pay a 75% tax penalty. Anything over that total would result in an additional loss of a draft pick.
NorthSideSox72
Thanks for the finds on the Louisville pair. But I'm pretty sure the Sox are a little over 100k ahead on pool.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) Thanks for the finds on the Louisville pair. But I'm pretty sure the Sox are a little over 100k ahead on pool. They are $112,800 ahead in the top 10 rounds, plus an extra 25k each to Wilcanon and Yurchak in rounds 11&12 to make $62,800+

NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 02:44 PM) Now you made me do my own spreadsheet, lol. OK you're right, they have $264,400 left in pool money, Skoug's slot is $201,700, so they have $62,700 overage room left within pool. beautox
so they're under the 5% threshold but pay a tax on that correct?
southsider2k5
QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:38 PM) so they're under the 5% threshold but pay a tax on that correct? Yep, they pay 75% on approximately the 35ish thousand dollars they went over. Technically they can go as far as $396,070 over, so in addition to where they are now, they could offer a HS player a deal of around $485k (125k slot + the remaining $360ish thousand they have left under the 5% threshold) and still stay in that 75% tax bracket... without losing a pick. I'm confused how Sheets ends up getting $2 million bonus way overslot, but a similarly ranked Skoug gets $300k How does Sheets justify $600-700K overslot as a second round pick? southsider2k5
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 04:36 PM) White Sox had a 1st round grade on Sheets And there is always the possibility that he slipped because he wanted $2 million, and the White Sox were the first team willing to give it him.
