Because they got an absolute trash return for a top 15 f***in' player, even for what they wanna do. That is why Bulls fan would have wanted this kind of package, minus thomas. The pick alone is a better return than the trash that they got, and very obviously makes so much more f***in' sense for what you CLEARLY point out they wanna do, potentially land Porter/Bagley.

All reports were that this type of package wasn't available for Jimmy Butler from Boston though. People can hate the Butler return all they want. My point was that this Kyrie Irving deal has nothing to do with the Butler trade even though people want to make that the case.

It wasn't available at that time.

Honestly, the fact that Butler and George got dealt likely led to their massive overpay for Kyrie.

(CBS) The Bulls on Thursday acquired wing Quincy Pondexter from the Pelicans, according to multiple reports.

The move is a salary dump for New Orleans, which will also send a 2018 second-round pick to Chicago, CSN Chicago’s Vincent Goodwill reported. The 29-year-old Pondexter is owed $3.85 million in the final year of his contract. The Bulls have ample room to absorb Pondexter’s contract, in the form of cap space or a $15 million trade exception that was acquired in the deal that sent Jimmy Butler to the Timberwolves, whichever they choose.

Pondexter has missed the entirety of the last two seasons because of serious left knee injuries that necessitated three surgeries. He’s a career 36.5 percent 3-point shooter.

So they went from what would have been a high 2nd round pick to a mid-range 2nd round pick + a useless player? Sweet moves Garpax

The Bulls don't own their own 2018 or 2019 2nd round pick. They are eating Pondexter's contract in order to obtain New Orleans' 2018 2nd rounder. This is a good deal. It's ironic though that they traded their 2017 2nd for $3 million and now are eating $3 million plus on Pondexter's deal to acquire a 2nd round pick.

The original post said "Bulls trade 2nd rounder to acquire Pondexter" which sounded absurd. If they didn't give up anything then it's fine. Still stupid as s*** to trade the 2nd rounder to GSW like they did.
