Archer, might be available

Gray, more likely

Duffy, injured

Cueto or Shark (big contracts)

Who are the other options out there?

Minnesota's not going to trade Erwin Santana now, for example.

Gray isn't any different than Q really.

Archer has put up another Archer-like year....500 k's but still an ERA in the high 3's. Not as elite as one might believe.

Cueto looks terrible this season. Vargas is someone that will get dealt for quality prospects

How can anyone trust Vargas coming off a major injury like that? He's going to run into problems the second half with innings piling up, although he's not the typical high effort thrower. I'd take Holland's playoff experience for 1/2 the price.

Another pitcher who might move is the Dark Knight at a significant discount...

The Royals are back in the race, so Vargas might not go anywhere. Only a couple games back of Cleveland.

Archer, Cole and Yu are the three that should worry Hahn

I'm extremely doubtful the first two are getting moved, and skeptical of the last, although the Rangers may still crater. Darvish's value is a lot different since he's the closest thing to a true ace available and he's a FA at the end of the year.

You literally just said posts ago that teams wouldn't pay up for Quintana because they want pitchers with that throw hard but you think someone will give up quality prospects for Vargas?

I think Gray is the most worrisome to be honest, his velocity is up, he's getting a ton of grounders and he's now getting strikeouts, he's pitched much better than his numbers indicate. Cole is struggling and I think the Rangers will hang in there enough to not sell. Same with the Rays.

I don't see Banister and the Rangers doing a White Flag trade with them at .500, as long as they're right in the thick of the wild card race.

Same reason Royals will wait until last second to decide on Vargas, Herrera, Hosmer, Moustakas and Cain. That's a lot of talent to ride the season out, but MN and CLE are keeping them in it.

Cole Hamels and Gerrit Cole, two more big names, fwiw. McCutcheon more likely to go there.

Melky trade value rapidly rising...at the very least, no contract subsidy.

I don't think anyone will give up anything but a lottery ticket regardless, but the less of his contract we have to eat the more we can contribute toward someone like Robertson's.

I don't think he will get a huge package in return at all. Only Archer and Cole fit that standard. Vargas is a much cheaper alternative though to Q

Gray seems pretty likely to move, i'll agree. He's been decent and has the numbers to back it up. But there's multiple teams that could use a starter for multiple seasons, and Gray getting dealt doesn't preclude a Q trade. Even tho he's been dingered, he's having a pretty decent game tonight.

This. Quintana's biggest hinderence is himself. If he pitches better in the coming weeks, I have complete faith a market will be there.
