greg775
Quintana pleases me and El Rockin cause we win and he pleases the trade people cause he builds his trade stock. Melky continues to have his best year as a Sox. Sox win a blowout game, seems like more blowout wins this season than the last 2 years combined under one-run loss Robin. The new guy from the Pirates raps three hits. Sox are six under .500 with all those home games to play. I'm telling you, el Rockin is close to being right thinking we're in the race. Greg is right thinking of what might have been. GO SOX! Go El Rockin! Cmon give the team its due and comment in a winners thread folks! elrockinMT
It's so much better to win then lose. I think we need to be thinking of who have to replace players that everyone is calling to be traded. If we trade Frazier for instance who takes his place? Davidson? Davidson. Is hitting homers but he seems good at DH. Is it not better to hang on to some of these guys another couple years while our minor league talent develops? A blend of rookies and veterans makes for a competitive team. I think the trade chips are the pitching staff guys especially in the pen.

The rebuilding people don't give a flip who replaces the ones we trade for now. They feel it will just help us lose and losses are what they thrive on now during the so called rebuild. Remember they want us to lose so we get a top three pick. Nevermind that Chris Sale went No. 13 in the draft -- that's right No. 13.

You seriously think we'd be better off at a middle order pick in 18 than being able to add someone like Beer or Gray? Oh yea, this is Greg I'm talking to... shouldn't ask. Had the team tinkered instead of done the so called rebuild we might win the division this year. Sale went 13; Trout was what 23rd? Who gives a flip about the draft? We're five games out and never gave the team a chance with a real manager, not Robin.

Any tinkering likely would not have kept Avi around; and for sure no Davidson and L Garcia would be unlikely as well in a "go for it" year. In fact they might've been traded for more veterans- some young players certainly would have. And it's highly unlikely those veterans would have performed anywhere near the level these guys are performing. Nobody ever addresses my comment about trying to win with a real manager. Robin was THAT bad. And Sox brass wasn't ready to give up on Avi yet. Nobody would have wanted him in a trade and if he had another ridicuously bad season they'd just drop him as they did Tank. You keep Sale and Eaton, those are two huge pieces. We are 5 out. What would we be with them?? Like I said even after the Sale and Eaton trades the Sox are technically afloat at just five back. You bring up Moncada and one of the starters the Sox acquired, could the Sox contend? I think our starting rotation is pretty darn bad so I wouldn't bet squat on us contending the rest of the way, but facts are facts. Well it's pretty bad when we can't have good winners threads anymore. Can you imagine in any normal season only being five out in mid June with all these home games left and our division sucking? And we can't even have a good winners thread. Very sad.

Greg, it's funny, because when the FO has tried to win, we haven't won much. So of course it stands to reason that when they throw in the towel and begin the rebuilding, we win just as much or more than when they were trying
Dick Allen
After winning 4 of 5, they are on a pace to win between 73 and 74 games. The team sucks. Parts will proabably be sold off, and more losing will occur. Reality is they have no chance this year even with others playing as bad as they can play and the White Sox playing better than anyone could have imagined. But for the most part, they are far more interesting to watch than I was anticipating. Edited June 17, 2017 by Dick Allen

If they do trade it will be a for RH or swap lefty for righty. I agree but Boston being in the pitching market should apply pressure on the first place Yankees, who also needs pitching. Boston and NYY have always tried to out do one another through trades and FA signing. If Boston goes out and trades for a starter, you can bet the Yanks will follow suit and have the prospects to easily bring back something better than Boston will get. Those two teams live for competing against one another, on and off the field.

SCCWS
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 09:54 AM) I agree but Boston being in the pitching market should apply pressure on the first place Yankees, who also needs pitching. If Boston goes out and trades for a starter, you can bet the Yanks will follow suit and have the prospects to easily bring back something better than Boston will get. Those two teams live for competing against one another, on and off the field. True but it depends on the trade they make. Boston and NY may be in a good position to at least make the playoffs. I see Boston acquiring a 4/5 RH starter. Joe Kelly was their fallback but he has developed into an excellent 8th inning reliever. So I doubt they will be giving up much to get one with the market supposedly flodded with those types. So the question is will the Yankees counter w a big splurge or do the same kind of move. Both teams may open up a comfortable gap from the O's and Jays that they will not unload their farm. Now maybe an NL team will if they feel they need a major boost to make the playoffs. With a ton of home games left it would be really wild if the Sox somehow stayed in contention. It's possible but depends who they trade. If they wreck the bullpen things will get a lot worse. That great record when leading after 6 innings will plummet. What is it now 24-0 when leading after 6 ?
