Phil Rogers on MLBN today said 8-10 teams are in on him, and the Braves in particular are very interested.

Excellent... buckle up folks... here we go!

I know PR gets a lot of crap around here...and rightfully so.

Does the guy have real sources anymore? Does he know anything more than Bruce?

Might be piggybacking off the fact there were scouts from 10 teams at the game.

Guys, what if, instead of trading Archer, the Rays look to trade for Quintana? Far fetched, maybe, but he'd fit in well with their staff and would slot in as their #2 starter behind Archer. They have Honeywell and Adames in the top 50, and a number of other prospects as well. Just speculatin' here, just shootin the breeze

Wouldn't be too far-fetched since they would value his cheap control.

Pittsburgh also tried very hard to get Quntana during the off-season and to a lesser degree, the Yankees did as well. So what?

Hahn has put a marker out for what he wants for Quintana and no team has or is likely to meet his demands.

Several teams have passed on Q, and that was before he had a very weak start to the season. I doubt Hahn lowers the asking price at this point. The Sox are not desperate to trade Quintana. Q's trade value might even be on the rise now after the past few starts.

Rays do have the prospects to swing a trade, but I doubt they clean out their farm system for Quintana. As a small market club they really rely on their farm to produce inexpensive major league talent.

The Braves are so intriguing since the deadline timeline doesn't necessarily apply to them...one would think they would be making a push now, as opposed to in a few weeks like many of the other teams.

Sox won't deal Quintana for less than a package similar to what they got in exchange for Adam Eaton/Chris Sale, especially considering the lack of other good options on the market.

The Braves system is totally loaded to the point where they are one of the few clubs that could trade for Q and not have it gut their farm.

Newcomb, Allard, Soroka, Wright, Anderson, Gohara, Toussaint, Fried, Wentz, Muller, Minter, Morris etc. is crazy pitching depth from which they can deal

Albies, Maitan, Acuna, Pache, Demeritte, Riley, Waters, etc.

There is a nice 3-4 player deal to be made here

Who's to say they aren't trying to trade for him now (or at least talk to the Sox)? From what Hahn said the other day, it sounds like they've started talking to teams.

The Braves are like the Yankees in that they can build deals around however the Sox want to complete a deal. They have a depth of OFs, a depth of MI's and SP's. The Sox can go through and pick a guy from each bucket to build the foundation of a balanced deal, if they like.

You and shack are basically saying the same thing.

And that the Braves have been engaged for the better part of a year now, if the latest news reports are true.

I've posted this before but I'll post again here. I have a buddy that is good friends with someone close to Braves organization. He told me in the winter that Atlanta was really interested but balked at trading Maitan or Acuna in the deal. I posted all of that here. This guy gets legit Braves info a lot but the White Sox/Quintana stuff always seemed off so I never "run" with it. I've heard heavy pitching packages as the rumored offers with the following names in play: Mike Soroka, Max Fried, Luiz Gohara, Akeel Morris, and Touki Toussant. I don't think Hahn would go for an all pitching package but Rogers and Ofman have both mentioned Braves interest as well as Atlanta Journal Constitution beat guy Dave O'Brien. Just FYI I guess.

Yeah, that could very well be why it has yet to happen.

That makes perfect sense going both ways to be honest. I can see why the Braves don't want to part with their positional talent, and I can see why the White Sox would want it.

Even though it's 5-1, that's very underwhelming. If it's all-pitching (which is odd since we need to focus on acquiring position player talent), I feel like Hahn would insist on Allard.

Not doubting the information or anything, it's just interesting that the rumored offer is so insignificant. Soroka and Gohara are good pieces, but the other three are not.

That information is coming from the Braves side though. I think what this tells us is that the Braves are interested, but haven't made an offer that is close to what we all assume Hahn is asking in return.

I hope you are right but I don't agree. Comparing him to Sale( contracts aside) is wrong. I think Sale/Kershaw are at a different level than everyone else. Q is a Top 20 pitcher and may even be a top 10-15. But he is having an up and down year. My gut tells me the best offer for Q will be 60-75% of what they got for Sale. Now Hahn may know that and take it or decide Q is of more value staying as the White Sox ace.

I didn't say exactly the same as sale, but rather a relatively similar to of package as sale and eaton.

Talks have been going on long enough to the point where haha will make a move when he knows he is being offered what the organization considers quintana's to value to be. A 28 year old lefty on a very reasonable contact that has been very healthy shouldn't come cheap.

Sale returned two top 15 prospects in moncada and kopech. Nobody will come close to offering that same level of talent for quintana, but I also think he is worth more than you are expecting.
