He catches the ball off his left foot way too often. I'm as high on TA as anybody defensively as he has everything you can't teach, including "go get the ball" instincts, but fundamentally he's a disaster this year. Jose is down to -8 runs at 1B this year. I think the DH penalty on fangraphs is about 10 runs. So find someone that can f***ing not be -10 runs at 1B and make Jose a DH next year please. It's a shame we can't combine TA's natural ability + athleticism with Yolmer's instincts and grace. If that were possible, well, defensively at least you'd have peak Alexei Ramirez. Melky seems like a hard worker and a fun team mate but his value 1 WAR because of his awful defense. I have no idea how this guy ever played CF. Youth I guess.
