harkness99
benetti is a nice guy.. but man he just says some much crap that annoys me. He likes to make a bunch of captain obvious claims,,, he is a horrible jinx (when he was giving us the win at 5-0 I knew we were in trouble). All of those things are pretty picky. But the jokes... the jokes... I enjoy puns and dumb jokes... but 10 an inning is beyond what I can handle. Feeky Magee
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 02:44 PM) Smith was not good in the minors. Narvaez was worse, but Narvaez is improving. He's also 25 v 29. Heck he had a home run today. Leadoff double from the 9 hole hitter, and the manager bunts to play for 1 run. Not good? He was an above-average hitter at every stop. Narvaez, thanks to his total lack of power, was well below-average at several stops. Nice plate discipline but unless the power comes he won't threaten at the major-league level. And Smith is 29 but iirc was a college QB at Pitt and didn't commit full-time to baseball until 23 or 24. And the framing gap is significant (although surprising, given the difference in reputation). Lip Man 1
I know they are going to lose games...a lot of games...a ton of games but this really is becoming an embarrassment. Starting pitching is horrific, the defense is brutal (three more errors today) and you blow a five run lead to a mediocre (at best) team. At home. Just sad. Like I said I know they are going to lose but these guys are supposed to be professionals who are getting paid very, very well. At least they should act like they give a damn (even if they have to fake it.) RR is supposed to be good with young players and to be able to teach the fundamentals. On that score, so far, I'm not impressed.

Balta1701
QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 05:12 PM) So....you want them to lose...with dignity or something? This is EXACTLY what this is supposed to look like. 2014, 2015, 2016...when they were actually trying to win but couldn't muster a .500 record, was much more embarrassing to me. It would be darn nice to see the highly drafted SS prospect not regressing on defense. The other 2 errors are by the kind of guys we're supposed to be playing right now. Dick Allen
tommy Kahnle is the right handed Matt Thornton, as long as he throws strikes, he will make a lot of money.

To clarify: I'd like them to lose; with the youngsters, the ones who may still be around in two years showing some progression, some ability to grasp and execute the fundamentals. I'd like the vets to act like major league players and to play well enough that another team may be interested in them in trade.

Tempted to get MiLB. I definitely am not interested in watching an inning of Holland, Pelfrey or Shields on the mound. I usually go back at night and watch the Sox highlights on mlb. But I can't watch those 3 guys pitch one pitch. Really makes me sad.
greg775
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 07:37 PM) You just can't be happy or satisfied with this team and any lead they may have. It is now 5-5 because of defensive lapses and Holland giving up homers You deserve credit for following each game as something that deserves to be tracked. Kind of silly to follow the games falling apart now that we dealt Q and really have one trainwreck rotation. Seriously can u envision us winning more than 20 games out of the final 70? This team doesn't have much to work with on the pitching/defense side of things. I guess we ultimately could outslug some teams. It's impressive u follow the games, El Rockin. What's our rotation gonna be next year? What do I have to look forward to?
