Javey Lopez was quoted saying "The Cubs have no chance of beating the Braves."

You can look at every factor in the book here:

Braves won 4-6 & 4 straight vs scrubs.

Braves have the better record.

Braves have the better OPS differential (824 OPS, 725 OPS vs.).

The Scrubs have the worst OPS of all post-season teams (740 OPS, 692 OPS vs).

Braves have a much better record vs > 500 teams.

The Braves have beaten the crap out of Prior (879 OPS vs)

The Braves have had success vs Clement (763 OPS vs)

Greg Maddux owns the scrubs (619 OPS)

The scrubs have only 2 shots at winning:

Wood & Zambrano must shut down the Braves.

Wood (473 OPS vs)

Zamb (593 OPS vs)

But PitchervsBatter can be misleading.

As a team, ATL owns Zambi : .364A, 12.60ERA

Kerry did NOT face the Braves this year.

Those impressive numbers were long since past.

Javy's right. There is no chance the scrubs can beat them.

The best pitcher vs ATL this year: Clement

He'll pitch gm 4 (if necc).

You make the call on this one. Wood last faced the Braves in 2001.

He gave up 2er in 6ip. The scrubs lost 3-2.

Some scrub fans might cling to this, but I just want to point something out to them:

2001 Braves (736 OPS)

2003 Braves (825 OPS)

I think Wood will be peckered with holes, Zambi will be shot dead & Prior will leave the scrubs looking toward Next year.

:fthecubs :sosasucks :puke -> Wood

"The Braves are going to engage in some serious ownage in that series. Flubbies dont have a prayer....or a clue for that matter. "

That's kind of the problem, the Cubs don't realize that they shouldn't be playing all that good, yet they keep going.

There is an old story by the brilliant author Robert Bloch called "A Case Of The Stubborns". In it there is an old man who is so stubborn that he doesn't realize he is dead. He keeps getting up out of bed, going down the stairs, joining his family for meals and what-not. All the while just decomposing and being too stubborn to just die. Finally at breakfast one morning his nose falls off, and he gets the idea.

I see this Cub team being very similar to that story. They are too stubborn to realize that they should be dead by now, but they just keep going, and going, and going...

That's ridiculous. Prior has only pitched against the Braves twice, once the game before the all-star break where he got hit hard both by their bats and by Marcus Giles.

To break out OPS numbers and act as if they mean something when the sample size is so small is just stupid. Why spend so damn much time planning the Cubs demise? Why is it so important that is Sox fans are miserable, that the Cubs have to fail too? Again, I reiterate...... I find all of this very sad.

wouldnt the 18.8 % margin explain that one rex???? lol... well besides the obvious reasons we all know already.... ;)

No the other 18% had the Braves winning the series. Somebody forgot to finish the job and post all of the results.

I don't get it. 80+% of Cubs fans think they will win. What the hell else would you expect them to say?? If the tide was turned, would you expect 81% of Sox fans to pick the Yankees??

This obssession with the Cubs is quite pathetic.

Get over it and worry about the Sox!

5.7% said Cubs in 3

41% said Cubs in 4

I haven't seen anyone actually pick the Braves...last night the entire sports team from NBC 5 all chose the Cubs to win..

Didn't realize the Brave sucked...

You're right..these are really serious predictions...

Yeah. -128 means you have to bet 128 to win 100 basically. And I didnt bet a lot of money really, just 200. :)

blue jays? may i ask why?

Because I live in Canada and the jays are the only baseball that ever gets talked about up here(thank God for the internet and pirated sattalite). I would say it would be similar to always hearing about the cubs in chicago. As a matter of fact TSN our national sports network up here has a special playing this week to relive the glory of the jays two World Series victories. It was a decade ago they suck now but no one want to get over it. Anyway I'll stop rambling now.

I don't see why hating the team helps the situation though. I don't like the fact that the cubs get more attention but I don't hate them because of it, it's not the team's fault.

It doesn't look like it matters, whether they suck or not they'll still get more attention so cheering against them doesn't accomplish anything.

This is just my opinion.
