caulfield12
http://www.kansascity.com/sports/mlb/kansa...e163394998.html Interesting...Strahm is out for a year with major injury, fwiw.
bmags
While it seems kind of light, hard not to trust Prellers judgment of the LatAm signees.
iamshack
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 24, 2017 -> 08:16 PM) While it seems kind of light, hard not to trust Prellers judgment of the LatAm signees. I saw some comments on twitter about that guy being pretty talented.
caulfield12
Royals are going hard...all in. Why not, 9 of remaining 64 against White Sox. Padres/White Sox 2021-23 World Series/es As far as Preller goes, Profar, Mazara and Odor all having forgettable seasons... Wood has been inconsistent this season, struggling as a starter and at times struggling as a reliever as well. His ERA stands at 6.91, and his strikeout-to-walk ratio is an underwhelming 1.45. He is under team control for the next two seasons, and is owed a guaranteed $8 million. Ruiz is an 18-year-old middle infielder from the Dominican Republic who has excelled offensively with a 1.219 OPS in 21 games, albeit for the Arizona Royals, a rookie squad at the bottom rung of the minor league ladder. Strahm is the centerpiece of the deal, and will be most sorely missed by the Royals. Strahm lit up the radar gun as well as scorching batters in his MLB debut last year, excelling as a reliever. Strahm was consistently ranked as one of the top three Royals prospects coming into this season, and has both started and relieved this season. The 25 year-old will miss the rest of the season with a patellar tendon tear. Royalsreview.com Edited July 25, 2017 by caulfield12
caulfield12
Yet another example of Latin American guy signed quite cheaply... The Royals spent big in the 2015 international signing period, but Ruiz was one of the bargains they found that year. Signed for $100,000, Ruiz immediately impressed with his ability to make consistent solid contact. Although he has a wiry build, he has the bat speed and strong wrists to generate excellent exit velocities. He projects as an offensive second baseman. He’s a long way away, but his performance this year in the Arizona League has done nothing to cool expectations as he’s second in the AZL with a .419 batting average and leads the league in total bases (67) and triples (6). Superstar Lamar
I wouldn't be surprised to see SD immediately try to peddle Wood to the Cubs. He was always pretty good for them out of the bullpen for this year and they have an empty spot in the rotation for him next year

Dick Allen
QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 11:29 AM) We have very different definitions of big It's the Royals. Although the one reliever is pretty good. And the prospect has amazing stats. The ex-Cub exchange, who cares? Maurer sucks too.

caulfield12
For KC...it's big (no meat or BBQ allusions, por favor!) Let's just call it, under the radar.
