Done, traded for Drew Smith. Feels like the Sox got a better return for Dan Jennings than the Mets did for Lucas Duda. That blows my mind.

Duda is a rental. Jenning is an effective LOOGY controllable through 2019.

Yankees and A's reach stalemate in Gray talks

"According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Yankees' trade talks for Sonny Gray have stalled because the Athletics are seeking one of either Clint Frazier or Gleyber Torres.

That's a deal breaker for the Yankees, who are telling teams that Frazier and Torres are both off limits. The A's are also said to have interest in Estevan Florial, James Kaprielian and Jorge Mateo, though only as part of a package also featuring Frazier or Torres. If the stalemate continues, the Yankees could jump into the Yu Darvish sweepstakes and New York has also expressed interest in Lance Lynn and Jaime Garcia. Gray is still likely to be traded before Monday's deadline but he's not going to the Yankees unless the A's lower their asking price. "

This kind of bothers me. What are the A's thinking asking for Torres or Frazier? I guess the one thing Gray has going for him is that he would be with the team (yankees) for more then just a rental period (I think).

But seriously -- out of the 3 SP's available, Gray / Verlander / Darvish, I don't like any of them from a contenders standpoint.

Darvish has been pretty bad, Gray hasn't been great, and while Verlander has been the most durable -- he doesn't provide the best stuff of the three at his age.

If I'm a contender, I'm saying no thank you and looking towards Jamie Garcia and Ervin Santana and to a lower extent - Miguel Gonzalez.

The prices for hte top 3 SP's available are much too high for their glaring weaknesses and problems.

Darvish is something like "1-7 with 5.03 era in last 12 starts.. not good at all. "

There's just no way I'd trade for him with what it'd cost.

Jennings is "a loogy" but not much more than that. He si someone I wouldn't count on from year to year.

Duda is a very good bat. I'm not surprised he returned little but damn. I haven't liked any "sellers" returns aside from ours.

Don't blame the Yanks one bit. I'd balk at that price too. If the Yanks weren't giving up either for Q then it makes sense they wouldn't do it for Gray. Nothing wrong with trying I suppose.

Price might be missing his start tonight. Still thnk MiGo makes a ton of sense for Boston. Yanks too.
