Trubisky played like a rookie yesterday, flashed some good and bad. Although the good was very good, very excited to let him develop the rest of the year and unroll a full playbook for him.

The throw on that OPI in the first quarter was a thing of beauty. The final pick was hopefully just a rookie mistake and trying to do too much, hopefully he learns from it.

No. This game sealed it. Too many ridiculous mistakes. He can’t win close games, he jusy creates them. Not every team looks like this I promise.

I agree. And it's not like Fox is some QB whisperer that is around strictly for Trubisky's development. Even if he shows signs of promise I dont think it will matter. I hate to force the kid to learn a new system, but you'd rather have better coaching, if Pace can find them.

Was just going to say this. Nobody could watch that play and say there was nothing special shown yesterday.

The offensive line was very bad considering it was our starting group, so you'd have to chalk that up to great play by minny.

I believe mid third quarter Gruden mentioned that there were 16 *accepted* penalties

McDonough even said early on that this game reminded him of a game last year Bogar officiated on Monday night where his crew seemed to want to be the story.

Pretty amazing comment for a guy that is relatively non-controversial.

I was pleased with what I saw. The one big mistake was a third down where he rolled out and made a bad throw to a receiver that was well-covered when he had Cunningham wide open in the middle. I didn't even mind the interception, tbh, because I'd rather go down trying to make a play than just getting sacked or checking down like we've seen from Glennon. That wasn't even a terrible throw IMO, guy just made a great play on the ball. Nine times out of 10 the defender probably just deflects that ball.

This was true for Glennon as well, but Mitch just has nothing to work with. Even still, if we had to win a game with the passing game (and I know we don't), it's very clear that Mitch at least gives us a chance.

lol...seriously?!?! I think you're one of the few on the planet that doesn't see it. Not sure wtf game you were watching....but cool story Mrs. Glennon.

I disagree as well. I was at the game and saw a rookie, inexperienced QB who made mistakes. However, he did not looked overwhelmed and looked poised. He looked like he knew what he wanted to do.

He started very few games in college and this was his first NFL start. He is just more raw than most rookies. He is going to make in game mistakes due to the inexperience but it looked a great deal better than I feared it would. He has a long way to go with in game decisions but it will come with experience.

In summation, Trubisky looks decent, the Bears are still crap.

I'm quite pleased with Trubisky seeing as he has no offensive weapons and was playing that Vikings defense. His accuracy is as advertised. The rookie mistakes can be cleared up.

So far, so good.

Most importantly, what's up with this Duck, Duck, Grey Duck crap? It's Duck, Duck, Goose. I always knew the far Northerners are weirdos.

That was in our end zone. I told the Minnesotans behind us that they must stop education in 3rd grade up there for them to enjoy that game.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 06:36 AM)
Wow, I pretty much hate this entire post. Saying a third overall pick doesn’t have the “it” factor after one game is one of the hottest takes I have ever seen on this board. And if you don’t want to cheer for a specific team then maybe you should leave this White Sox message board and stick to ESPN highlights. You’ll see plenty of “greatness” there...

I generalized it, but I am using it in the context of Football because I think that the NFL's days are numbered to to the concussion/CTE stuff. If Trubisky isn't the guy, nobody has time to wait for them to figure it out, because I think that as the science gets more reliable, they will ban football at the lower levels and the pipeline of talent would be destroyed. Furthermore, I could see the game being outlawed all together due to some thinking that allowing your kid to play could be considered child abuse. If you like football, and I do (and feel guilty for liking it) the NFL may have only 10-20 years left. There is no time to waste. If you enjoy the sport, just enjoy great players being great because football may cease to exist by 2035. This was an NFL specific rant that I generalized to gauge reaction from people. This is a sport-specific thing. If you feel that the NFL's days are numbered, then just enjoy it while it still exists.

Wait a second, you think football will be cancelled within 10-20 years and based on one game you think Trubisky isn’t the guy so bench him now and move on? Wtf

I don't think Trubisky is the guy, but that is beside the point. The point is that I think that Football is a mortally wounded sport. Because of that we don't have time to wait to see if Trubisky is or isn't the guy. We should just enjoy the sport as long as it exists, if we like it. That is all. Yes, I do think that by 2035 football will be cancelled.

Right now he's not the guy. He isn't going to lead this particular team to the playoffs, but he obviously has a lot of potential. Give him some experience and some decent receivers, and he might be a star.

Except for maybe Cutler, I don't think the Bears have ever had a more talented guy at QB. Hopefully he develops. The guy only started 13 games in college. To think he will get anything but better is crazy IMO.

When I see Trubisky, I see a mobile Chad Pennington. I don't think he has the arm to make all of the throws. Super accurate, but I don't see the zip on his passes. Eventually this will get exposed. I think Loggains doesn't go deep and stretch the field because he knows that none of his guys have the arm to do it.

Dude what? I'm not a Bears fan and I really couldn't care less if Mitch is great or awful but this is one out there comparison.

This isn't even close to reality. The game may change but there is absolutely no way the NFL won't exist. Far too much money involved. While there is a decrease in participation there are still plenty of kids playing the game. I just worked games over the weekend. There were kids from ages 6-13 with all of the teams having complete rosters.

Wait until High Schools and Colleges start getting sued. Then things will change really quickly. The reason why people think it will live is money, and the reason why I think it will die is money. The problem is that in all likelihood, everyone who sees the field, or practices football, suffers a concussion at some point during every game and practice. If you start having to take kids out if there is any question of whether they are ok or not, then games will no longer be playable because youth teams will run out of players before the end of a game. Too much liability going forward, especially as more knowledge and research comes out.

With this receiving Corps, I don't even know if Tom Brady would lead us too far. I do think with a very good QB we are a playoff team. Our defense is good, our oline (when / if it gets healhty is good), RB is solid, but the WR / TE position are so weak (hopefully Simms bounces back and shows something with Trubisky in and we see developments from Shaheen) that it is just so darn difficult to move the ball. Defense needs to create turnovers for us to win games (and offense needs to protect the ball, win time of posession, and wear down the other team.
